The usage of censorship during war time is also needed to prevent intelligence to be taken by the opposing forces. Though it is true that the Canadian was to send ‘a military force into combat it is responsible to advise the Canadian public’ it does not mean that they have to also ‘disclose the specific details of the operation’ dealing with the number of units landing and at what time.  This is necessary because if the opposing force or side has access to this kind of information they would change their tactics to prevent an unexpected intrusion. This would not only endanger the Canadians abroad it would also endanger the ones at home for they may be attacked because of the stolen intelligence. It is also needed when banning the revelation of ‘information during ongoing legal trials when that information might compromise future legal proceedings’. This is important when dealing with the ongoing and most controversial impacting trials. The best Canadian example would be the case of Karla Homolka, an ex-convict who was charged with manslaughter but plea-bargained. She was involved in the rape-murders of two Ontario girls as well as the rape and death of her sister, Tammy.  As such information of the trial could not leak into the public for fear of bias being formed to those jury members that were involved in the decision making of the prosecution of Homolka. Some information is best censored and taken away from society for their safety and protection.
