Finding the Best Tax Attorney

Tax attorney or tax lawyer – Is a person or a firm that handle tax disputes or someone who specialized tax as there main mastery in the legal world.

How will you know he is a good tax attorney?

1.  Background –  A good scholastic records might not be the best to judge and a good tax attorney.  Having been in the field of tax, or has been working in the field of tax is a good way to look at a background of a good tax attorney.  Even if he or she has no good scholastic records but he or she was working in the revenue for quite sometime, his expertise is direct in the field and therefore his knowledge on the field is undeniably right for the job.  A policeman for example who became an attorney of course is not a good tax attorney because of the field he has mastered is no way connected to the case.  While an internal revenue officer who became an attorney is well verse in the field and he is what you will be looking for.

2.  Case winnings –  This is really not a basis on looking for an attorney, since case winnings depends on what side he is always defending for.  Although most lawyers will be proud of there winnings, this is not really the case on the basis of how good he is.  But, this would become vital when, looking at his record that even a simple case he failed to win it, mostly by reason of negligence.  Then case winnings became vital in that area.  Never engage in a negligent lawyer, even if you have all the advantages in the case but your lawyer is stupid you will not win.

3.  Experience –  This a very important aspect.  Mastery over the subject matter. Even if an internal revenue officer has become a lawyer that would not be enough to make him good tax attorney.  He can still be a chicken to those experience lawyers who have been in practice as a tax attorney for years.  Experience is really very crucial in looking for a tax attorney. 

4.  Rate of Pay – If a tax attorney is asking a high price is he a good tax lawyer?  No, this is not the basis.  The rate of pay has in no way related on how good he is.

5.  Updated – Make sure that he is updated of the new legal provisions regarding tax.

In the legal world, it is experience that is always the basis, a lawyer who has a good scholastic records but has not been doing any practice in any legal field i just like a sitting duck.  Law provisions every now and then keeps on changing and it is important that a lawyer or an attorney should be updated.
