- They are more deadly than any other attacks. The victim is four times more likely to go to the hospital
- They are usually committed in groups. The larger the group, the more violent the crime.
- Usually younger people commit them because of being abused, or other things like that.
- About 70% of hate crimes are against people. The rest is against property. These involve, robbing, arson, etc, etc.
- They are not usually committed by radicals, such as Nazis. Most of the time, they are committed by seemingly normal members of society who appear to be nice.

Interesting article. I’ve always been interested in exploring people’s motivations, so #3 has me curious. What are the reasons that people are driven to commit hate crimes? My sense is it is in part a result of feeling desperate, unacknowledged, and hopeless themselves.
