Forensics 1

Most people think Ballistics is guns and bullets, but that’s not exactly everything it covers. Ballistics is a very general category it covers any object that has been thrown or projected.

At first I thought forensics was just finding evidence, scanning it and then finding the criminal. But just after 10 weeks of being in this class I have seen and learned so much more about forensics that I did not know before. There is so many details that go into forensics that they don’t show on TV. Fibers, there’s natural and synthetic, you should be able to recognize the difference. The colors, how there woven and even the ways they burn and the smells that different ones give off. Fingerprints are another thing I learned about which a very intriguing subject. There are three main types, loop, whirl and arch and then there are sub-types. On the TV shows it seems so easy just a quick scan and they find whose it is. But we must find eight minutia, which is extremely hard. It’s a law in the United States to have at least eight or it can’t be used in court. Now the last major unit we covered is my favorite so far this year and that is Ballistics.

Most people think Ballistics is guns and bullets, but that’s not exactly everything it covers. Ballistics is a very general category it covers any object that has been thrown or projected. This also includes the velocity, distance and many other factors that impact the projectile. With all this they are able to reproduce the angle of the projectile, how tell the victim was and many of these elements to better find the criminal and have enough evidence to bring them down.
