Fraudulant Use of Name and Articles Settled

Thank you friends for your sympathy and understanding while I have been working toward solving the problem of my identity theft and stolen articles. It has been settled to my satisfaction. The webmaster of expertcolumns.com has been very helpful and I am well pleased with the outcome.

Triond friends, My stolen identity problem has been settled. The webmaster turned the account over to me. I don’t know it I will find time to post on the site or look for any viewers but if there is any revenue it will come to me. I still haven’t taken the time to look at everything posted under my name, but I did check a couple of dozen or more articles and all had been copied from my Triond articles and pasted. I’m just glad it’s all been taken care of. I saw a warning has been posted on the site saying they will scrutinize articles more carefully to be sure they are not copied from other sites.

I thank you all for your interest, support and patience. I suppose having our articles posted on other sites to the advantage of impostors is something we have to expect and be on the lookout for. With spending our time doing that and advertising our work, it leaves less time to research and write and I don’t like it, but what can we do?

The thing that upset me most, was that I had seen the name rubyhawk on Google many times and thought it was someone writing with the same pen name. It didn’t occur to me that they were impersonating me and using my own articles or I would have checked it out sooner. As it happened when I saw the same name a few days ago, I clicked to see what kind of articles they had written. Can you imagine my surprise when I saw a picture of my granddaughter and her baby as the profile pictures and my own articles listed below. I was in total shock.

If we searched carefully enough, we would probably find our names and articles spread all over the paying sites with impersonators collecting off our hard work. But we can’t let ourselves obsess about it. We have more important things to do like publishing on Triond.

Publish your articles here and earn income.

glad to know it’s settled Ruby…I devoted the last two weeks of April in searching the web for people who stole my articles and I discovered that almost all my articles have been copied and pasted somewhere else on the internet…sorry to my friends but most of them are from India, Pakistan, China and other Asian nations, a few from the US and Europe and some are my countrymen…it’s so sad find out that after working so many hours you’ll find out that your works are stolen by wicked people on the internet…Triond admin should do something about this problem too.

I am happy that the matter has been settled. Quite a lesson for impostors and would-be impostors. And I agree with you that serious writers just cannot do/ don’t have the inclination to do detective work.

Many thanks for keeping us posted, Ruby. I think triond should do something about it. When you tell them, they don’t reply.

Great news! Any chance you can indicate if the articles start making money for you? I reckon they will make very little as they will have no ranking in Google’s search engine as the new Panda algorithm will ignore them while giving (deserved) attention to the original articles… but I could be wrong… I suppose.

    Thanks for the update

I am glad that the problem has been solved. My Triond income took a real nose dive last month and I wondered if there were some copies of articles out there. But, I really don’t have the time nor inclination to go searching.

Happy you got it settled. Good that the other site worked with you. I am sure some of my articles are out there under the names of others it is a risk we all take. I did search a little for my name and I didn’t find anything. One year at Christmas I saw another article with the same title as one I had posted a week earlier. I clicked on it and it was my article with a different beginning. You could even tell the beginning was from a difference writer it was full of spelling errors and miss use of words. I sent a message to the person and by the next day it was deleted as was their profile site. Why do people have to do this, I just can’t understand it.

Arrgh, I flipped when my article had been stolen and posted under someone else’s name… it’s just too easy it seems. Triond could help it’s writers by stopping the ability to cut and paste text. It wouldn’t eradicate it, but it would lessen the frequency. Great post.

Glad to know the issue has been resolved, Ruby. I hope Triond does something to prevent copy-pasting of articles. I think it’s a matter of protecting the website. That way, those article thieves won’t have a grand picnic day in Triond.
