Gang Stories
What factors influence a person’s decision to join a gang?
I agree with this article saying that people who have an influence from older siblings to join a gang need special help. It is true because a person usually does what their older sibling does to be cool or fit in. In this article children joining gangs isn’t a problem just in the U.S., it is all over the world. I agree that gangs are a quick way to screw up your life. It is true that young gangsters are usually the targets.
Who’s at Risk of Joining a Gang?
Any person can join a gang. A boy or girl, rich or poor, dumb or smart, any family, and any race can join a gang. Males, drugs, has a family member in a gang, people who live with one parent, people who are poor, people who are bad in school, and people who have been neglected are all characteristics of gang members. Life is tough for these people. They go to gangs to escape problems, but get there self in more. Some people join gangs to be cool.
These characteristics don’t guarantee that the person will join a gang. Identifying these characteristics can help a community find and help these children. Gang membership can start at an early age. That is why we need to get the message out to people at an early age so it can stick with them for a long time. A child in a gang can affect the whole family.
I believe it is exactly true that those characteristics are a big influence on a child to join a gang. It is also true that anyone can be in a gang just like the Socs in the book because they are smart, wealthy, and have good parents and are gang members. People do join gangs to be cool, or from peer pressure. We do need to get the message of not joining gangs to people when they are little so it can stick with them when they are older. That’s is what I think about this article.

Itz messt up to see such a young lady die leaving behind a baby n taking a nother baby on the way with her ! specialy when the bullet was not ment for her ! stupid kid that did it! if you are in a gang then kill other gangmembers not inoccent mothers! my heart and prayers go out to the family of the young victim and specialy her baby . its messed up that now that baby will never see her mom and that mother whom may now rest in peace will never get to take care of her baby , she wil miss out on all the special moments a mother is to share with their little one. I HOPE THAT STUPID GANGMEMBER GOES TO JAIL FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have lost many people to violence but i can honestly say i am hurt and do not think of the gangs that did that as bad people. i look at them as young indiviuals that need help. i know that is the easy route out to blame someone else but they need help. i feel their pain for their lose but also think many of these young gang memebers need help.
