Investigative Flaws

A crime scene so painful it brings the detectives to their knees.

The situation was grim,

the day was relatively dim,

in the wind

he thought he heard the child’s cries,

as sorrow instantly slid

down the detective’s eyes,

around him were open spaces,

he moved closer

took a few paces,

closed his eyes and he would pause,

unsolved and cold cases

came from investigative flaws,

what strangled his thoughts was death,

as it took a moment

for him to catch his breath,

dried blood and broken baby teeth

was found by a tree stump,

it was the site where the child’s

body was dumped,

the crime scene detectives made sure,

they did everything in the proper order,

losing a life so innocent and pure,

one of the officers threw up near a tree,

but they had to let the little girl’s body be,

until they had to move her,

emotions would stream,

ghosts would scream,

as they bagged her hands at the crime scene,

they carefully chronicled the exact

array of clothing,

emotions pressed,

but they noted that the child was fully dressed,

her blouse seemed to have been

improperly buttoned,

the detectives felt the stress,

the child was dead, but her ghost was depressed.

My heart almost broke into pieces with this. God save the soul of this girl.

This is one of my favorite pieces because you have portrayed strong emotions and fears with detail. Dried blood and broken baby teeth… After reading that, I got a lump in my throat. nice work.
