Is it the Type of Money or the Type of Crime?

Compares how many and crime impact the sentencing of various individuals.

So now I am confused because each of these men violated the law in some capacity. One stayed out of jail so long I thought he’s never be held accountable. The other’s case became a matter of he-say, she-say, regardless of the evidence. Yet the last of the three was nailed to the cross and tossed to the wolves like he didn’t even matter. Now what does that say about our legal system? Are we really dealing in dollars and sense when it comes to jail time or is about the crime? Let’s take a closer look at all three cases…

Kobe’s crime was pulling a Mike Tyson. He slept with a young lady and forgot to leave a tip after he had done his business. R. Kelly slept with an underage girl and made a film about it. He didn’t do this just once, he did it on several occasions and even made a couple of pornographic tapes about it. WOW! Then there’s Mike Vick who was accused of dog fighting conspiracy. Dog-fighting?! We’re talking about a form of entertainment that dates back since the domestication of the species. Dog-fighting doesn’t exist only on this continent but on every continent in the world. Now this not a situation of comparing one crime to another but we’re talking about the intensity of the crimes. No matter you compare the three crimes; Vick should not be sitting behind bars and facing additional charges when he’s released. You would think that we were a nation that had never heard of such of thing as dog-fighting. That our country had never partook of such a monstrosity. Yet it goes back to an earlier article about how our judicial system is still tainted as it relates to color and money. In these cases, it all related to color and money.

So just how long was Vick’s money? Should he have hired a much better attorney team to ensure his good name was not tainted? Or were there more hands in the pot than should have been? As long as the crimes don’t cross race or money, they can be bought off. But let the crime cross race, that’s a whole other ball game. Kobe’s just hired a really great attorney and that ended his nightmare. R. Kelly’s team just made sure that everyone involved got paid off handsomely and he walked. So where did Vick go wrong? Did he forget to pay someone off? Or was this just a case of someone throwing their weight around to get their point across? No one knows. No one cares. He’s just another black man off the streets and not a threat to economic status of the next great white athlete.

It shouldn’t be about money or race. It should be about the difference between right and wrong.

So I leave my readers with this: Did all three of these famous people get what they rightly deserved?
