Is This Our Future?

A reminder of what world we actually live in.

I’ve just seen something on the TV that I would have rather not be reminded of to be honest.  I’m not really one for TV in the  first place but as I was passing the front room there was a programme on about 2009, you know the ones, they re-run over the year and point out the most integral events of this time.

As I passed I heard about that little boy called Reece  who was shot down by some other kids.  Like I said, I don’t really go  in much for TV  or the News so I’m sorry for not even knowing this little boys full name. I do remember it happening though and feeling utterly shocked that I’m part of a world where  feral kids fly around our streets, not only with guns, but with the intent to use them in such a way.

Did this happen years ago or is the modern day media only allowing us now to see this kind of disgust that plagues our so called entertainment.  Perhaps I’m the  idiot for not updating myself with this kind of information but if I’m going to be brutal with the truth …… I’m sorry that this happens, but I choose to ignore.

Yes, that might  make my response and actions wrong but things like that disturb me …. I’m an overflowing cup sort of person, not a pessimist.  Is this what our world has come to?

The behaviour of these kids? … what the hell are their parents doing to make them act this way?  I’m not that naive that I think all children live in a fairy tale environment, however …. do we continually need to hear that there has been another Jamie Bulger incident?  I certainly wouldn’t liken myself to Parent of the Year but I know for a fact that my kids would never do anything like these kids are.  I don’t think my kids have even pulled legs from a spider, never mind killing another child.

Are we growing in a generation of child killers or are  these minimised incidents? What the  hell will we  be watching on next years 2010 re-run?
