It May Have Been The Greatest Moment of My Life

A fathers memory of when his child was still growing up.

My Son The Man

I was dressed in a sterile hospital gown with a mask to keep germs from spreading. I was impatiently awaiting the birth of my child. I thought it was all interesting and watched the birth as if it was on the Discovery channel. Two sonograms and we knew it was going to be a baby girl. My wife and I had bought sweet little pink clothes for our new baby girl. We were looking forward to our new addition with great anticipation.

My brave wife wanting to give a natural child birth swore to me a thousand times she would not need any pain killers. She was adamant that it was to be a natural childbirth.  The moment the labor pains intensified she was screaming for an injection. Of course, the doctor asked me if I wanted to let her have the shot. I said, “no.”

Ten seconds after being cursed out in two different languages I relented and gave my permission to give the shot to calm her down.

It seemed like a year but some time later the Doctor crouched in a receiving stance and asked for one more push.  My wife found some inner strength, cursed at me, clinched her teeth, and followed the doctor’s instructions. She pushed with an intense desire to consummate the birth. In his green hospitable attire, the doctor exclaimed, “welcome your new son to the world.”

“A SON!” I exclaimed, Set me off on a flurry. Overcome with immense joy, I started running around the hospital shouting as loud as I could, “It’s a boy! It’s a boy!” I was ecstatic that I had had a son and wanted the world to know. I am still sure to this day that everyone in the vicinity of the hospital knew a father was now a dad to a baby boy.

Two days later little Junior was at home and I was walking around with him cradled in one arm. Proudly telling him I was his Dad and I had some plans for my little knot headed kid. I am a dreamer and dreamed so many good things that my little boy would become. He was my buddy.

A good story, I know u was happy no matter if the baby was a girl or boy as long as the baby was healthy.

I could not 100% relate how it feels to be a father.. But I did not regret reading this article. Somehow, it gave me a picture of the real scene during labor… You just simply effectivey articulated a story that must be shared.
