James Arthur Ray and Sweat Lodge Deaths
James Arthur Ray holds himself up as a "Spiritual Warrior" who helps people in their quest for spiritual harmony and wealth. In 2009 he took 50 participants to Sedona Ariz. for a five day seminar where three people died and eighteen were hospitalized. He was convicted last week of three counts of negligent homicide. But as I write he has ads out about his expertize in spiritual quests for wealth. People pay extremely high prices for these courses.
James Arthur Ray led more than 50 people into a sweat lodge in 2009 that ended in the death of three people. It was the highlight of a five day Spiritual Warrior seminar near Sedona, Ariz. Ray told them the ceremony was meant for a spiritual cleansing. The sweat lodge was used as a way to breakthrough whatever was holding the participants back from health and wealth. He warned them before they entered that they would feel like they were dying but they must get to the point where they would surrender and say it’s okay to die. The participants had paid big bucks to die in this sweat lodge.
Ray said in a recording, “The true spiritual warrior has conquered death and has no fear of enemies in this life time or the next, because the greatest fear you will ever have is of death.” Some participants said guards were placed at the door to prevent them from leaving. People were trampling each other and couldn’t get out. It ended with three dead and eighteen were hospitalized. Others were given water to cool down at the scene.
Jurors reached a verdict in Camp Verde, Ariz. last Wednesday after a four month trial. James Arthur Ray was found guilty on three accounts of negligent homicide. He will be sentenced the 12th of July, I believe. He is the author of a self help book and calls himself a spiritual leader. He said he was leading people through their insecurities and fears to the other side. Instead he led three people to their deaths. Prosecutors and defense attorneys disagreed over whether the deaths were due to toxins or heat.
As I read more about this James Arthur Ray, in my opinion he proves himself a charlatan who’s interest is in money and has nothing to do with spiritual quests or spiritual warriors. His advertisements are still drawing more victims in as of this moment. The following is what I found on the INTERNET when looking him up.

What he did was wrong and he deserves whatever he gets. You can risk a human life for your own gain.

What a horrible, sad way to die. I do hope that he receives some sort of punishment and some type of regulation is put into place for programs like the one he was operating.
