Juvenile Delinquency: Causes and Solutions
Juvenile delinquency is caused by many things which I would mention a few. It is often caused by lack of home training. Some parents have no time to take good care of their children. The father would leave to work early in the morning and the mother may leave for her stall in the market, leaving behind the children. Nobody to take good care of these children. Some of them would employ the service of house maids, who themselves are not better than juvenile delinquents. The children would be growing more and heady.

Some of them would employ the service of house maids, who themselves are not better than juvenile delinquents. The children would be growing more and heady. They tend to be loose and misbehave, since there is nobody to take good care of them. They do not respect anybody. They voice out many vulgar slogans. And you would start to wonder whether or not they have parents. This, at times, is due to parent’s brutality. Some parents again, have no time to show their children the right path. Imagine a drunken father who would come back home late. How can he look after the welfare of his children? To sum up home training, some parents do not agree on how to train their children. Father would scold a child for doing something which is wrong, the mother would be annoyed. The mother may say, the husband does not like her, so, he is ill-treating her children.
Now, let us look at the training in the school. The school which is supposed to be a place of learning, not only books, but also manners. But you could see that, these schools are the places where future crooks are reared. This, I would say, is due to the negligence of the teachers. The teachers may even be too strict, leading to brutality. And if you are brutal to children so that they would respect you, they would fear you instead. There are some teachers who themselves are old crooks. So they lay bad examples to the children they are teaching. Now, let us consider social corruption. Some bad behaviors found in juvenile delinquents are found in rough films. There are some children who are loose at home, when they watch these films, they would like to act as the cowboys. For example, imagine an actor smoking hilariously in the film, jumping over walls, climbing trees and fighting. After these children watched the films, they would start to develop an interest in such acts hence leading them to mischief.
Parents should be tactful in dealing with their children and they should devote their time to their children so as to give them adequate home training. Parents should not be too strict; they should avoid brutality and they should not be lenient. Parents should work as a team to train the children. The father should not disapprove the treatment of a mother to her child and vice versa. Teachers should live up to expectation and should not lay bad examples to children. Inspectors should be visiting schools often, so as to be a sort of ‘check and balance’ between the teachers and their pupils.
