Kidnapping Rates High in Nigeria

Before we continue, I wish you download a copy of this important article so you could read it at your convenient time.

Kidnapping in the recent time in the history of Nigeria seems to be another form of slave trade practiced long ago by her colonial masters. Apart from election malpractice which claim to be the foremost award winning crime since the inception of the new Nigeria, kidnapping has come to compete with other criminal activities. For quite some time now, kidnapping has been the order of the day in most parts of the Southern Nigeria and let’s agree it is the most current but lucrative style of crime. Recently, the northern states feel the same hijacking typhoon and so it’s everywhere you go like MTN. No wonder stakeholders in the deal tend to build more communication mast in almost every state of the federation to earn mega millions of Naira. Countless cases of kidnapping announced either on the media or heard in the streets, by neighbours and relatives are recorded and are increasing on daily basis perhaps in a geometrical sequence. Please permit me to lecture you a little about this spray hunting the nation like HIV AIDS but note that the writer did not studied ‘Kidnappology’ and that is by the way just that we feel the same.

Kidnapping or abduction has never being the crime Nigerians participate in and I guess it’s an idea by aliens thus a foreign crime or culture maybe imported to the country to help fight economic recession or breakdown in the country; who knows? To be more frank with you, kidnapping seems to be a form of reprisal to the hunters. For instance, if the wrong use of cerebellum function in the brain plans election manipulations and other political and social vices, the wrong use of cerebrum function does plan kidnap acts. But they are different crimes; in all they are equal hence sin is sin!

The game has no limit as both young and old are abducted on almost every day and so where do we go from here? A friend of mine suggested to me that the dictionary words ‘kidnap’ and ‘abduct’ should be similar but shouldn’t mean the same anymore for Nigerians reason because ‘kidnap’ should be used for under-age (i.e. kids) while ‘abduct’ should be restricted to adult alone as ‘abduct’ and ‘adult’ are somehow rhyming. But it’s true anyway. Because of how kidnapping has driven lots of Nigerians crazy like the European league, some people call it all kinds of name. When our old papas are abducted they say it’s ‘Papanapping’ and so you can answer what it is for our mamas, daddies and mummies.
