Kidnapping Rates High in Nigeria
Before we continue, I wish you download a copy of this important article so you could read it at your convenient time.
More so, the game has varying rates to pay for ransom depending on what one worths. Who knows whether these culprits have a device that weighs ones productivity? But it’s very obvious that some attires we put on or our body buildings and even the type of car we ride and the high places we regularly visits could tell whether one is ‘kidnappable’ or not. My guest made her comment on my last article that the ransom fee may soon come down to N2, 000. 00 if proper care was not taken to nip their decision on the bud. It’s very funny but that’s true hence what they want is real money. If they kidnap 10 people in a day to pay ransom fee of N2, 000 .00 then its N20, 000.00 which a local FOREX trader may not be able to earn in 2 days.
As if it were enough, the culprits know no colour be it white or black. In recent time too, foreign workers (white men) were threatened because kidnappers feel they are ‘kidnappable’ by that I mean they can afford to pay figures running in millions of Naira.
My friend, I feel it’s high time we start telling ourselves the truth. Let peace and unity replace pride and avarice. As part of the efforts of the minister of Information and Communications Technology, Prof. Akuyili, let’s join hands to say NO to kidnapping, evil acts, malpractices and fraud which has eaten deeply into the fabrics of the Nigerian nation.
Rebranding should mean Re-branding. If my baptismal name is Innocent and I am known for a dubious and criminal lifestyle, then I am 100% guilty as charged. The Nigerian laws, police ethics and the fundamental human rights should be incorporated into the school curriculum starting from the primary school level to the tertiary level. Of course many Nigerian citizens never knew their rights to live as citizens. Democratic policing should really be practiced after all police they say is your friend!
To the Nigerian leaders; know you that you are called to serve and not to be served. Your primary aim is to serve the nation with all your heart and to defend our unity as good people and a great nation. If Nigerians should give up ghost chase and face reality, neither election malpractices nor kidnapping will compete anymore among the least of crimes in Nigeria. Surely, other third party crimes will go extinct.
