Forensic Science is not as fancy as it sound. It is a courier that filled with challenges and constantly facing tremendous pressure from many aspects. But still there are many misconceptions regarding this “Fancy” courier. It is listed as below:

A) Forensic Scientist is not Forensic Pathologist. There don’t have the authority to dissect corpse or performing a post autopsy on a death bodies. Their job perimeter is only collecting biological sample (tissues and body fluid), physical sample (tire print, fingerprint and so on), and chemical sample (drug, suspicious liquid …..) from the death corpse.

B) Forensic Scientist is not Investigator. They are only assisting the police officer by offering their expertise in analytical examination. They will not be granted fire weapon such as gun like the police officer. However, forensic examiner are expert witness that given authority to present at court.

C) Not all Forensic scientists are CSI (Crime Scene Investigator). Forensic Scientist is mainly divided into two divisions. The first division is Crime scene investigator team. Their main job is to detect and collect any valuable evidences. They also are assisting the police officer at the scene of crime to evaluate suspect testimony. Besides that, they also responsible to assist pathologist collecting biological samples. After that all evidences will be submitted to Second team- the Analytical scientist. Their job is to perform analysis and comes up with evaluative report which then will be handed over to police. Police then using those information to identify the possible convict.

D) Not all forensic science deal with Crime scene investigation only. After recruitment, they will be grouped into different departments such as ballistic, toxicology, serology, document analysis, DNA and so on. After years of training, they will then be recruited into others department undergo training again. The purpose is to produce an all rounded Forensic expert.
