No $5,000 Reward for Man Who Tips 911 Before Hotline

Man tips a suspect but gets no reward because he called 911.

In Florida, Mike Schillmoeller gets no $5,000 reward for reporting a bomb threat suspect all because he called before 911’s local crime hotline. It was after a unanimous decision made by Central Florida’s Crimeline board of directors.

Apparently what happened was, Mike Schillmoeller first called 911. Twenty minutes after realizing his mistake, he calls the Crimeline hotline. But then, the suspect was already arrested by police sent by 911 (from his phone call). So technically, he get’s no five grand reward.

According to the Crimeline board of directors, the reward will be given to the person who tips the suspect to their hotline and not 911. In this case, 911 got the credit, but since it was a non profit organization, no one is paid $5,000 at all.

Poor Mike.
