On Knives and Guns

I write this as an eye opener for all of us and also because many of the things I mention surprised me in the first instance. Law had been on the side of the knife crime offenders which is the prime reason of the spread of this menace.

Is it not time that the police get a bit more inquisitive as to what is happening in and around them? And should we not stop complaining the stop and search tactics of the police, which are designed to curb this menace and not to humiliate some one?

The ones who are innocent should not feel disgraced and consider the fact that police is doing their job and trying to protect them from these thugs. Inconveniences occur when we have to fight a menace, what do we call it like? Oh I remember, “Collateral Damage”!

So if collateral damage is acceptable in a war in shape of innocents being killed, then why not bear a little inconvenience in shape of stop and search? Don’t you feel that we have handcuffed the police instead of the criminals and then asked them to get rid of the troublesome lot?

And why the law differentiates between a murder by knife as less severe and a gun murder more? How and when did this discrimination happen in a country where people are facing all sorts of legal action resulting in any kind of discrimination?

Father throws his kids from the balcony and then pleads innocence on mental grounds. A killer stabs his victim 9 times with a butcher’s knife so viciously that his bones break and then pleads not guilty as he has done this in self defence!

Stabbed 9 times in self defence!!! Is this not a mockery of the law? And who has made a mock out of itself? What right does any one have to kill someone and then live according to human right laws? Capital punishment, like all other punishments, was not meant to punish people but as a deterrent to offenders and convicts.

And then the money wasting that goes into these legal actions. I was once assaulted and then my case went to court. My assaulter was caught wide on the CCTV but he pleaded NOT GUILTY. And then after a lot of time wasted on part of the police and the court, and that of myself also, when he was shown the footage, he pleaded guilty.

So where has all that wasted time gone? Those hours of the judges and the law enforcement, and me and the others involved could have been used constructively. So did the judge take any special action in this regard that why he did not plead guilty before and why he now feels guilty?

Did the judge give extra punishment for this act? No but instead he was just awarded a simple community sentence, making a mockery of my sufferings and the tax payers’ money. When is all this going to improve? Who will bring the change? And who will bell the cat?
