Prentiss and Jj Return to Criminal Minds
The woefully missed characters, Prentiss and JJ, have returned to CBS’s Criminal Minds. In episode 1, season seven of Criminal Minds, “It Takes a Village,” the BAU team gets a startling revelation, when they discover that the “murdered” Prentiss is indeed alive.
Season 7, Episode 1 of Criminal Minds, It Takes a Village,’ will premiere tonight on CBS. Criminal Minds’ fans have waited for this night for nearly a year. Now, the time has come. Prentiss and JJ take their rightful place on the FBI’s BAU team; helping Morgan, Hotch, Rossi, Penelope and Reed bring some of the scariest and deadliest criminals to justice.
Jennifer ‘JJ’ Jereau, played by AJ Cook, is the Supervisory Special Agent who acts as liaison between the police and the news media for the FBI’s BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit). The BAU is a special team of FBI agents who use their kin senses of perception to bring down some of the worst criminals in the country by putting themselves in his/her shoes and thinking like them. JJ was forced to leave the BAU early in season 6; taking a position with the Pentagon instead.
Then, fans got another jolt when Emily Prentiss, played by Paget Brewster, was brutally tortured and ‘killed’ by an old flame, Ian Doyle, whom she apparently was involved with during an undercover mission. Prentiss’ past has some dark places and a few of them are shown in this episode, ‘Lauren,’ during season 6. Prentiss is thought to be dead, but, the final scene suggests differently, as JJ hands a mysterious woman passports and a bank book, who then, walks away into the night.
Tonight in the season 7 premiere, ‘It Takes a Village,’ the BAU is brought under investigation by a Senate Committee, who questions how the team handled and retaliated against whomever was responsible for their colleague and friend’s death. However, Prentiss rises from the dead to hopefully save the BAU team.
Criminal Minds, also, stars Thomas Gibson as Unit Chief Aaron Hotchner, Joe Mantega as Senior Supervisory Agent David Rossi, Shemar Moore as SSA Derek Morgan, Matthew Gray Gubler as SSA Dr. Spencer Reed and Kirsten Vangness as Technical Analysis Penelope Garcia.
Personally, I can’t wait. I keep trying to fast forward to tonight, but, it won’t work. I’ll have to wait with the rest of you to see how the new season of Criminal Minds unfolds. Meanwhile, you can read season 6 recaps, to bring yourself up to date.
