Prisons and Crime The Out of Control Reality

Prisons are big business for Private operators.

The reality in regards to firearms and the human toll it takes, when they are mishandled. It is said that in the United States, that the odds of you being murdered, in your lifetime are 133 to 1. The psychological impact of suspecting this and the socialization to firearms as acceptable norm, accounts for the common believe en-grained in American culture. The preconception that firearms are for protection and actually reduce crime.

This forms the bias towards the believe system in regards to firearms and what they represent in American culture. Some say it represents manhood, but in reality, it is status/self esteem, for both genders.

In popular American culture,we see actors and actresses that are perceived as being strong, attractive villains and heros.Commonly referred to as action heros/villains, who for the most part are only able to save the world/rule with the use of firearms. We also see actors who portray soft characters in which in the end, use firearms to be successful. American media glorifies, serial killers, and other outlaws such as the James gang, are known to have fans. The desire to obtain that level of fame, attention, wealth and status is appealing for many, regardless of how it was obtained.

Hence reinforcing the accepted norm and perception that firearms are a means of archiving peace by deadly force. It is human nature, to imitate those who you look up to or perceive, as being socially desirable. The world-view is established and cling-ed to with tenacity and without restraint. The fringe element, takes ignorance as a emotional base from which to operate in society. This fringe group then bases all social decisions on this violence based, world-view.

For a percentage of individuals, this media portrayal of world events is taken as having a certain grain of truth, in how the real functioning world behaves. For some, who are caught up in this perception of world/local events, now emulate what they now believe is the only means of resolving the issue and with deadly consequences. We see this with the shootings that the media news programs reveal to us.There is the spector as to why, but never seriously addressed, other than to blame the gunman, as being misguided, with serious emotional issues, someone, who is deranged. Having nothing to do, with the firearms used. The ease of access allows, fringe members of society, to obtain self gratification quickly and easily. The lack of concern, towards others, in a dog eat dog society is internalized, which allows it to be expressed in the this manner.
