Serial Killers

Another famous serial killer was Gary Ridgeway. He has also gained publicity in the media by the name of the green river killer. Born in Utah he moved to Washington State where he worked as truck painter for thirty years. He claimed of killing a woman as early as 1971 but it was not until 1981 that the first green river killings were committed and the world knew of his presence. Most of his victims were of a distinct age group that is from 15 to 31 and all of them were prostitutes. He strangled them to death and dumped their bodies in the green river or the nearby wooded areas. Gary was married thrice and all of his wives claimed that he had a bad temper and even tried to strangle them. While a young boy he once stabbed a teenager. Those who knew him as a young child would agree that he was a troubled child. He often witnessed his parents fighting. With the help of a witness who escaped his attempted murder the police was able to arrest him. He was found guilty because his DNA was found on one of the victims. Gary admitted to 42 murders when a deal was offered to him to take off the death penalty. Investigators still believe that the numbers of murders committed by him were more than hundred and the remains of the victims are still being uncovered to date. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment with no possibility of early parole. 

One of the most notorious serial killers was an unidentified person who called himself the zodiac also famously known as the zodiac killer. He operated in the state of California in the 1960s.He sent a series of letters to the press admitting to killing a number of missing victims. In the letters he asked the press to print his symbol of the zodiac on the front page or he will continue to kill. The letter also contained 4 ciphers. He challenged the police that if they could decode all of these ciphers he would bring himself in. The FBI was able to decrypt only one of the ciphers was decrypted which appeared to be a misspelled message “I like killing people because it is so much fun it is more fun than killing wild game in the forest because man is the most dangeroue animal of all to kill something gives me the most thrilling experience. It is even better getting your rocks off with a girl. The best part of it is thae when I die I will be reborn in paradice and thei have killed will become my slaves. I will not give you my name because you will try to sloi down or atop my collectiog of slaves for my afterlife ebeorietemethhpiti” (Zodiac).The last eighteen letters could not be decoded. In his letters he expressed specific information about the murders which was not released to the press proving that he was the killer. He is the confirmed killer of 7 victims. He was literally playing a game with the police at the end of some of his letters he put the score like Zodiac = 37 and FBI = 0.He was never caught and the case of the Zodiac killer is still open to date.
