Sex Scandal Forensics

THE COUNTRY SEEMS TO HAVE A new favorite past time-watching sex scandals. I don’t know what makes people crave over watching it. Is it the intriguing idea that it is a scandal or just the flaunting of sex?
The Encarta Dictionary defines the word “scandal” as a situation or event that causes censure or public outrage. Not too long ago, swarms of copies of scandal videos have rapidly been disseminated all over the country, adding another point into which piracy should be stopped.
But really, sex scandals do not alone exist in this country. The United States population thrives on these materials in the Internet, magazines ad other forms of pornography. But unlike here, Americans do not treat sexual escapades caught on videos as scandals. To them, it’s just normal, merely part of the growing ups process, even part of being human. Are we just overacting? Just exaggerating a simple human mistake into a national crisis, which is supposed to be nobody’s business? This is where culture comes in.
We live in a society where women are protected from men until they are mature enough and ready for marriage. Women preserve our virginity for their husband. And although everybody will somehow go through that thing we call “sex” we are just not used to talking about it. In fact, our country is still in the process of adjusting itself to western liberalism and still trying to embrace the fact that things like sex, in these times, must be talked about. Maybe this is what makes a sex video, a scandal. Because it goes against our culture, it goes against our upbringing, which is conventional and conservative.
When we think about it, most sex scandal videos that have emerged and shaken our country are made by those who are in it. So, let us take a cross section of the crime in the shoes of the suspects. The people involved in these scandals took videos of themselves doing “the act” for whatever sick reason. This only means that they agreed to be filmed. There’s a very big difference between a video captured by accident and one done purposed, may it be done by someone else or by you. Now, having given consent to be filmed, you must be now fully aware of the consequences, including the possibility of it being aired or copies of it being distributed for the rest of the country to see. So, why are the complaints?
But the people involved in the scandals aren’t the only “people involved”. What about their families, friends or even the general public? These indecent acts of untapped energy have distressed the people aside from giving them entertainment. It’s not fair. Not even to the “actors” who took the video for fun maybe, but it was meant only for themselves. And let us not condemn these people who have had sex. It is just unfortunate that the whole country saw what they did.
Even if it doesn’t matter things like these add to our country’s sagging image. Along with graft, corruption, poverty and high crime rate, a sex scandal is the least we need now.
