The 1983 Murder Case – Diane Downs

In one late night of May 1983, Diane Downs 27, a mother of three entered into the emergency room of a springfield hospital with her car blood soaked as she had shot her three children Christie, 8; Cheryl, 7; and Danny, 3. Cheryl was already dead by the time they reached the hospital and Christie and Danny were fighting for the life.

Her initial statement was that she had taken the kids out to a friend’s house. And upon their return home she decided  to go for some sightseeing. And she took a deserted country road with three sleeping kids in her car.

However, on the way She was stopped and asked by an unidentified person to handover the car. She replied, ‘You’ve got to be kidding,’ at which time he pushed her aside and reached in and shot the sleeping kids.

On investigations, the story turned out to be fake and it was revelated that she did this herself as she had an affair with someone and considered her children to be a hurdle in her love life.
