Murder and homicide as types of crimes have a hairline distinction. To differentiate the two it is important to know first their basic similarities.

Both, murder and homicide, involve the taking of one’s life. There is death involve. Furthermore, these crimes are not qualified by blood or filial relation unlike the case of parricide and infanticide.

Parricide means the killing of one spouse by another spouse. And infanticide, the killing of an infant below three days old.

In murder, the killing was attended by certain circumstances qualifying it as such; like evident premeditation  on the part of the murderer, the use of fire or explosion and similar ways and means to effect a planned execution.

On the other hand, in  homicide, even though, there is killing or death , however, the same was not attended by the above circumstances. In this instance, usually, the killing was made by a spur of a moment an impetus effecting the crime.

Regardless of their qualifications, both, are considered outrageous undermining the safety and security of every single individual living peacefully in a civil society.
