by Shouldn’t he get more time for his crimes? Should he just be let go like he is now?
No more time for the Blue Eyed Rapist? What is wrong with this picture? I believe that someone of this nature should get the maximum sentence, if not death. 14 counts, and only gets one sentence. After admitting that he did it, he gets rewarded by serving the same time as he is for just 1 of these crimes. I do not understand. In no time, he will be back on the streets repeating these crimes as if he was never caught.
I hear so much of people being rehabilitated from this kind of thing. It is not possible. It is a proven fact that once released from prison, they will become repeat offenders. This is not something that being counseled for can cure. There is no cure. These animals have a taste for pain, torture and blood. Once this taste is acquired, how can it be cured?
These monsters do not realize what they are doing to these women, children and even men. This horrible experience is not something that can be forgot. It is carried throughout life as a death sentence. Sure, for some, it is easier to deal with, but, what about the ones who don’t know how to deal with it? People believe that going to a shrink will help. It doesn’t really. It makes it come back to life as if it were happening all over again. It is just reliving something that should have never happened.
This man has committed over 14 crimes. All of them being of the same nature with one being a murder. How can Ohio let a man like this have just 1 sentence for 14 horrendous crimes? Sure, he will have to register as a sex offender, but, in reality, what good will that do? NO GOOD!!! It is going to send the community that he decides to live in shutter in mere fear. Fear for their wives, children and anyone else who could be targeted.
It is bad enough that people have to worry about things, let alone adding the extra stress of knowing there is a rapist living in their neighborhood and not being able to do anything about it. What about the safety of the community? What about the children who just want to ride their bikes down the block? Or, the women who just want to take their morning jog? Or, even the men, who just want to take their dog on their evening walk? It is just not safe anymore.

Your views points could not be more correct! Where has our protective justice system gone? When has it become the “standard” to allow a person to commit numerous crimes, however their punishment will only be for 1. Let’s think about the message we are sending to perverts in society; “do what you want as many times as you want to, you will only pay the consequences for 1 of them”. The justice sytem has turned into a Political Arena controlled by dollars and cents. Long gone is it “For the People”!

Casey C. I couldn’t agree with you more on your opinion. I would like to add one more disappointing detail, that not only has he only received the one sentencing, but that sentencing was for armed robbery not for rape. Thus far he has received 32 years for armed robbery but the rapes, the crimes that actually hurt people, are being sold out for the time he already got for robbery. I hope that at least one of the victims stands up and refuses to bargain with him because God knows he didn’t bargain with any of them.

yes i agree. i think that at this stage of time, 2009, society will be pressing for actual convictions of the heineous crime of rape, because at this point, its such a mockery, i almost don’t believe it although i contemplated killing myself for 3 years after i was raped.

I think you all are completely ignorant to the situation. If your going to post in public, please get your facts straight so you don’t look like idiots. .David Hopper, blue-eyed rapist, for those of you that know nothing on this case has been handed down over 200 years of either mental hospital prison or prison. He will never be allowed in society. Quit being an emotional wreck and let the justice system handle it.

I find it interesting that you use the word \\\”ignorant\\\” when referencing the other comments made, when in fact you do nothing but display your own ignorance! I was the victim that David Hopper stole the rings from. I was the victim that picked him out of a line up, and I was the victim that fought the Federal Court system in KY when they suggested grouping all of the cases and having them try and convict him of theft and only theft giving him 37 years in prison. I can assure you that my \\\”emotional wreck\\\” motivated me to do everything in my power to make sure he had to face every rape charge he had coming to him. And as far as ignorance is concerned, you may want to educate yourself on the difference between consecutive and concurrent sentencing with regards to the \\\”200 years\\\” you believe he has been handed down. You need to realize that when YOU post something in public that you need to have all your facts straight and that public means that the victims and their loved ones can read your ridiculous and incorrect statement. Had I not allowed my emotional wreck motivate me to do everything I could to fight the initial offer made by the Federal Prosecutor of KY, David Hopper would be nothing more than a mere thief serving 37 years and his rape victims would not have been allowed their right to face him in court as he was convicted of the violent acts he committed against innocent people just doing their jobs. I only hope for your sake this comment serves as your lesson on compassion and that you never have to rely on the judicial system to handle a situation in which you may be emotionally invested. And furthermore, he has not been handed down any mental hospital sentencing. He merely stayed in a facility until he could be proven to be competent. Now who looks like the idiot? The fact that you posted your comment with words like \\\”idiot\\\” and \\\”emotional wreck\\\” after a person admits she was raped and contemplated suicide, makes me wonder about your mental competency and if you share something in common with David Hopper other than \\\”eye color\\\”.
