“Tookie” Stanley williams was a dangerous man. After serving a few years on death row, he was executed. With celebrity “Crips” gang members at his execution, he drew a lot of national attention to himself on that day. Tookie williams is a very well known man and the most important figure in the lives of Crips gang members.

Stanley Williams “Tookie”, December 29, 1953- December 13, 2005, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tookie was his middle name, not a nickname. He was an early member of the Crips street gang, and was an instrument of founding and establishing the gang. Tookie Williams and another teenager Raymond Washington founded the Los Angelos Crips. Tookie was a very physical large man, making a threat to anyone who stood in his way. In 1979, Williams Tookie was arrested and convicted for four murders in robberies, and was sentenced to death. While behind bars, he became an award winning author. He begin working to prevent youth from joining gangs. In prison, he began making changes for the better. He also co-authored children books. A movie “The Redemption” was made in honor of Stanley Tookie Williams. Stanley Williams Tookie was executed by lethal injection on December 13, 2005 at the age of 51 at San Quentin prison.

He became a celebrity right around the time of his execution. Public protests from celebrities like Jesse Jackson and Jamie Foxx were not enough to spare the life of this American gangster. The history of gangs network showed the Story of Stanley Williams “Tookie”, granting more exposure to this Crip icon. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger rejected Stanley Williams Tookie clemency. He was executed.
