Today at The Anthony Trial and a Possible Theory
Two jurors on deck…18 to go.
I was surprised when I tuned into “In Session” today and discovered that they had moved to phase two, three and four of the jury selection process. In other words, there were now 72 jurors cleared in the “Hardship” phase and moved forward to the end game of selecting a jury.
The first man on tap took THREE hours to question about pre-trial publicity, the ability to hand out the death penalty and general Voire Dire before he was told to go home and report tomorrow. I missed the dismissal of a second possible juror and watched as a third man was also moved forward in the process. The Judge declared thast they would get through a total of 37 people today alone and I smiled to myself thinking that Judge Perry must either be slightly delusional or a very optimistic man. They will be lucky if they finish by the end of next week at the rate they are going. In Florida, the Judge cannot limit the time it takes the lawyers to question the prospective jurors so they will be as long winded as they can be. Considering that this is probably the most important part of the trial, and that lawyers love to hear themselves talk, this could go on until snow falls and Christmas is upon us. I also learned that the Judge’s comments about seeking jurors at the local Homeless Shelter was some kind of joke.
As for another theory, I listened carefully to the questioning and the discussion brought forth by the Defense and came up with this possibility: Caylee died by accident (maybe drowned, maybe by over-dose of Chloroform or some other way). Casey made 8 phone calls to Cindy on the day that Caylee was last seen and never reached her. She might have panicked for whatever reason and decided to cover up the death. She placed Caylee in some trash bags and covered her face with duct tape so as not to have to look at her dead face. She rode around with the child in her car after a weak attempt at burying her in the backyard and when the car began to smell to the point where Casey couldn’t stand it, she dumped the body in the woods down the street. Why would Casey do this and not call 911 or tell someone for 31 days is the big question if you buy this theory?
