Top 10 Disappearances

Throughout history, many events throughout are parallel to the teachings of science: nucleic bombs, space and aliens, supernatural events, global warming and many others. Well, here’s another set ready to boggle your minds.

10. Oliver Larch- In 1909 Indiana (others claim North Wales), Oliver Larch was on his way to a well one winter to collect water. When he approached the well however, he disappeared leaving behind interrupted snow prints and cries of help which seemed to come from above.

9. The Flannan Isles Lighthouse Keepers- On December of 1900, three lighthouse keepers were on station duty. With them were equipment essential to surviving harsh conditions at their location and time. Their equipment did not, however, save them from disappearing. They were never found.

8. Bennington Triangle- To all familiar with the Bermuda Triangle, here are another set of mysteries of no less degrees. Between 1920 and 1950 the Bennington Triangle was the freak site of many, possibly hundreds, of thoroughly unexplained disappearances. Here are some of the most bizarre:

1) December 1, 1946 is claimed by 18 year old student Paula Welden who vanished while taking a stroll along the Long Trail onto Glastonbury Mountain. A middle aged couple who also were taking a walk had been exactly 100 yards behind Welden. They lost sight of her when she went up a rocky outcropping. When the couple themselves had rounded the rocky outcropping, Welden had vanished.

2) December 1, 1949- James Tetford, an ex- soldier lived in the Soldiers Home in Bennington, Vermont. He was returning from a trip to St. Albans and was using bus transportation; all passengers testified to seeing Tetford sleeping in his seat. But, when the bus reached Bennington, Tetford had disappeared, leaving behind belongings and a bus timetable.

3) Mid October, 1950- 8 year old Paul Jepson has never been heard of since that date. Jepson’s mother, an animal caretaker, had left Paul to play near the pig sty. Minutes later upon return, she saw him missing and an extensive search of the area failed to recover Jepson’s whereabouts.

7. The Vanished Cripple- Owen Parfitt was paralyzed by a massive stroke. In June of 1763 in Shepton Mallet, England, Parfitt as usual was sitting outside his sister’s home. The 60- year- old man was in his nightshirt and was sitting on top of a folded greatcoat. At 7 p.m., when Susannah, Parfitt’s sister, went outside with a neighbor to help Parfitt back inside (a severe storm was approaching), Parfitt had disappeared, his greatcoat the only thing that remained. An investigation of his mysterious disappearance continued on until 1933 to no greater knowledge of his whereabouts.
