Weed Them Out
Is marijuana still illegal? I haven’t checked in a while. Would we really notice one way or the other? No one should smoke it, but that doesn’t mean it should be against the law. We don’t ban playing golf do we?
Prisons, along with golf courses and shopping malls, take up way too much room in this country as it is. We don’t need to be filling them with people who decided to get a little high. Leave these people alone. They’re not hurting anyone. Even if it’s people who smoke nineteen joints a day, leave them alone. Potheads are the most harmless people you’ll find. They don’t need to share 12 by 12 foot concrete cells and be accociated with serial-murdering rapists.
Just to straighten something out, no one should smoke marijuana. Any form of smoking is extremely repulsive and disgusting. I don’t care if it’s done by means of cigarettes, crack cocaine, or banana peels. It’s something I have a deep psychotic hatred for. There are very few things in this world that piss me off more. There will be more on this subject later.
Now, at the same time, any kind of moral objection to it is pure arrogance and stupidity. If someone wants to suck down smoke in order to achieve some kind of pleasure, it’s not my problem or your problem. People can roll up a pile of dog shit, light the end on fire and take a drag with enough wind to sing the extended version of the Star Spangled Banner for all I care. I have no problem with it whatsoever as long as I don’t have to breathe it. If it was legal, maybe they wouldn’t be afraid to go outside and I wouldn’t have to worry about it.
Bringing us back to the point, it is a waste of room in this country and a waste of my tax dollars to put some dude in prison for getting caught with a bag of pot in his pocket.
“Good afternoon, officer,” he says as a zip-loc bag falls out of his shirt. “Oh shit!”
The morally-stable protector of the people then grins with the self-satisfaction of accomplishment, because now this guy has to serve some ridiculous sentence while tax dollars pay for not only his room and board, but his meals. Is that what you want? Do you want to pay for a stoner to eat?
Prison doesn’t serve the most fine cuisine available, but it’s not bad either. It’s much better than what stoners are eating at home. It’s not Cheet-ohs, Doritos, Nutter Butters, Fiddle Faddles, Diddle Fiddles, or Nitter Fritters, or any other assortment of nutritionally worthless overly-processed products it is potheads like to eat when they have the munchies, but it is still food my tax dollars are paying for.
Don’t throw this guy in jail. If he absolutely must be punished for his horrendous crime, give him a fine or something. At least make him pay for his own damn food and contribute to the economy, not just drug dealers who are making money to support terrorism. People most concerned about terrorism are the same people who are against legalization of marijuana, but there is a simple formula. Make weed legal. Help stop terrorism. Yeah right.
