Who Killed the Ugandan Second Lady, Kay Amin?

 Angered by the rejection of his wives, Amin had very sinister plans against them. He was most close to Malyamu and Kay. Not long after the party and divorce, Malyamu was involved in a car accident executed by Amin’s bodyguards. She sustained a fractured leg, which saw her hospitalized for about 3 months. When the news of the accident got to Amin, his first question was; “Is she dead?” It was obvious that he wanted her dead. Malyamu was lucky, because she later left the country and has been living in London since.

 As for Kay, her father, Reverend Adroa pleaded with Amin to have her reinstated as the official wife. Amin accepted this on the condition that she moved from Kampala to Arua. Even then, he was not yet aware that Kay was already pregnant by another man. Kay was already deeply in love with the Doctor and considered the idea of leaving Kampala a rather silly one. When it became clear that Kay could not listen or feel for Amin, she was arrested on the orders of Amin for being in possession of a pistol and ammunition. This was a trumped up charge because the weapon had been given to her by Idi Amin himself. She was later cautioned and released.

 Not long after her release, Kay was found dead under very suspicious and horrific circumstances. Kay’s boy friend, Dr Mbalu-Mukasa was also found in a critical condition together with his wife and 5 children. Their youngest child had been locked up in a cupboard but alive. The Doctor died a day later of the sleeping pill overdose, although his family survived.

 Two theories about her death have been advanced. Firstly that Kay had left home that evening with Dr. Mbalu-Mukasa her boy friend, but never returned. Amin’s men got her in the company of Dr Mbalu-Mukasa and killed Kay, dismembered her dead body parts while the Doctor was injected with some overdose of a chemical substance with all his children and wife purposefully to exterminate his entire kind.

 The second theory, which seems more convincing was said to have been disclosed by the Assistant of Dr. Mbalu-Mukasa who reported that Kay pleaded with Dr.Mbalu-Mukasa to have an abortion. The Doctor attempted to carry out an abortion in his clinic but it went all too wrong. Kay bled to death and the Doctor with his Assistant in the attempt to confuse the world, dismembered her and left her body parts in the clinic with a view to disposing it off later. The Doctor then went back home from the clinic, administered sleeping pills to his entire family members to send them to sleep so that he could collect the body parts from the clinic to his house unnoticed by the family members. He planned to dispose off the parts during the night and then flee the country. He actually gave the sleeping pills to his family members and went back to his clinic to pick the body parts and returned with them when every body in his house was asleep. He stuffed the dismembered body parts into a fridge. But the Doctor realized the futility of his actions and did nothing to dispose off the body parts that night. Early the following morning, he then took an overdose of sleeping pills and was rushed to hospital by neighbors. His wife and children recovered but were completely unaware of what happened to them.  The Assistant of Doctor Mbalu-Mukasa who is alleged to have helped with the abortion procedure was arrested by the police and was never seen again.

It was a well-known practice in Uganda that Amin used to kill and dismember his victims-but the real cause of the death of Kay Adroa will probably never be known. What the world got to know was that her dismembered body parts were taken to Mulago Hospital mortuary and it was confirmed that she died of excessive bleeding.   The question will remain, Who Killed the Second lady Kay Adroa?
