Whoopi Goldberg Defends Mel Gibson – Has She Lost Her Identity?
Whoopi Goldberg seems to have a propensity for defending rapists, wife abusers, racists and men who degrade women.
The Whoopi Goldberg rants are becoming as tiresome as the Mel Gibson rants, which is indeed sad as one would have thought that she could have been a role model for women and a valuable advocate against racists – especially since she is both black and a woman.
Whoopi Goldberg seems to have a propensity for defending rapists, wife abusers, racists and men who degrade women. If you watch the view occasionally, you may have caught her defence of David Letterman when the story broke of his infidelity. There was no sympathy for the interns involved and it appears that since David Letterman was not married to the mother of his child who he was living with at the time of the indiscretions, he couldn’t be called a cheater.
Then we hear about her defence of a rapist. Perhaps she would have been singing a different tune if her daughter or granddaughter were victims of rape, or maybe not. After all, as far as she is concerned, Roman Polanski’s attack on a 13 year old “wasn’t rape-rape.” What a message to give to young girls everywhere, that there is rape and there is rape-rape.
Now we have Whoopi Goldberg defending Mel Gibson. One would assume that she doesn’t see him as a “racist-racist” How would she know what goes on in anyone’s mind and what lessons are Whoopi Goldberg teaching young people when she blames alcohol for the anti-Semitic remarks by Mel Gibson four years ago. Does Mel Gibson bear any responsibility for his atrocious behaviour?
Whoopi Goldberg says she knows Mel Gibson is not a racist. Its like someone using racial slurs and saying: “I am not a racists, I have black friends” Whoopi has to understand that racism, like any other form of hate, is a state of mind which does not preclude the offender from forming relationships with people they feel to be inferior. Perhaps Mel Gibson “being nice” to Whoopi, had to do with his fear of the “pack of n—”getting to him
Is Whoopi Goldberg the kind of host you want coming into our living rooms? Do you want your children trying to make sense of her defence of rapists, bigots, and woman abusers?
