This question has been there since ages but with no satisfactory answer but today I give the best possible explanation and way to prevent it.
Why not women?

Answer:
The mystery is that a man is more sexually active than a female. It is because a man has the sexual desire 33 times a week as compared to woman who has the sexual desire of only 9 times a week on an average.
This means that on an average a man want to have sex around 5 times a day while a woman want to have sex just once in a day so a very high ratio of 5:1 prevails in the desire for sex.
Now, every one knows that it is easy to control yourself once than five times a day and not everyone has got a very high will power which leads to certain exceptions and those exceptions are rapist. As probably, no one in its right mind would like to rape, it’s only when the surge to have sex is so great that one crosses the barrier and gets involved in such horrendous act.
Now, few possible reasons which I feel responsible for low will power of a person are:
- Not everyone has same genetic makeup so this could be a possible reason that why every person born with variable will power.
- Drug abuse
- Alcohol consumption
- Negative feelings for the concerned person.
- Suffering from some mental trauma in general.
However, the effect gets amplified when more than one reason combine. So, in my opinion a rapist in general is not a criminal but a patient who needs a medical treatment rather than any corporal punishment.
I feel it to be a disease because most probably it is the faulty genetic makeup of the person which is responsible than any other factors because many people drink, take drugs and every one has one or the other kind of tensions but then not everyone end up as rapist. So, this indicates strongly that only the genes of a particular individual decide what he has to become.
Probably, I feel that medical science is not yet so advanced that it can cure a genetic disorder but at least it can help in altering the effects of a gene so as to prevent the symptoms of the disease. But, for this thing to happen it is important to spread awareness among people. This is possible if we all fight together to eradicate this disease from the world as we eradicated smallpox.

hi,
this is an interesting article. The mind of a criminal, in general, is very complex and requires the exploration of various theories to explain why someone has committed such a horrific crime.
Also, I would change the title of your article. It should state “why ONLY men Rape” as opposed to “Why men ONLY rape”. Your title suggests that men do nothing else but rape. i think what you intended it to mean is that out of the two sexes, it is men only, not women, who tend to rape. Just a suggestion. there are various ways of fulfilling one’s desires and i need not say that even rapists indulge in them. i’m talking about masturbation. u never mentioned this point.
acc. to me, it has got to do less with libido and more with the male chauvinistic dominating nature coupled with some triggers of testosterone (and also neurotransmitters in brain) such that one is addicted to ‘feeling high and powerful’ all the time. this necessity of ‘feeling powerful’ & not ‘lack of willpower’ is the key to the MYSTERY, as u quoted it.
and there are women too who indulge in rape crimes. but the no is comparatively less as the dominating capacity in terms of physical strength is undoubtedly and generally lesser.

First of all there is a log of unnecessary baggage about rape. Rape is just like any other crime, but women attach lot of importance to their virginity and modesty and make it appear as if it is one bug deal.
I fully agree that rape is about consent being violated, but consent violation is crime in some hundreds of other cases. For e.g. when a gang beats another male then also consent i s violated. I think all cases of consent violation should be treated equally and punished equally. Rape in modern world where man and woman are treated same should be abolished as a separate crime and should rather be treated at par with multitude of other crimes.
Some people give a logic of male being held responsible for intense sexual feeling and that he and only should be blamed if he can not control his urge. In that case, the ignominy a rape victim suffers if also mostly in her own mind (as most of reported rapes have little or no evidence of gross physical abuse) and then female and only should be responsible for managing her feeling of ignominy. The state of society can cater to violation of consent and punish rapist for violation of consent to the same degree as it can punish any violation of consent whatsoever that happens all around us. Why should state punish a rapist beyond violation of consent to compensate of ignominy the victim claims to suffer from? Is not that ignominy also a state of mind just like the sexual urge of rapist is also a state of mind?
If we do not make such a huge cry for every single incident of rape, accept rape is any other crime and do not discriminate against the victim (as if she has been rendered untouchable) and treat the rape victim like any other normal human being (who has got offended in life) the violent nature of the crime of rape, will dies its own death.

this is an interesting article iam a biotch student presently studing and having my research on criminals /or rapists this happens the desire for male is more but the stamina is more for girls for the fullfillment of their desire.
but why th desire is les because they have more pain and some effects which male doesnt experience.but ur right reason why men rape because the androgen receptor gene is more flodded with testosterone hormones in rapists hence hence there is no proper end for an act of hormone attaching to the receptor and persuing the next activity that is release of sperms and fullfillment of that desire reqiure that particular lady

I agree with most points in this article except that women don’t rape. I mean to say, women too commit rape. Why does it happen that most rapes are committed by men/ It is because women are not as strong as men are and traditional society had codes for women. In return, women got moral superiority. Given a chance, women will commit rape and all crimes that men commit.
Some people have talked about ‘Patriarchy’. This term is an invention of feminists to sell their concepts. Society has always been led by men. The role of men and women are not the same and men have always led the society. What has that got to do with rape? Women commit it too.

There are many ways for satisfying the sex of the person. There are many call girls in the city. If he’s unable to meet the expenses he should atleast meet a councellor or a Doctor who could probably help him. But simply going and raping a girl/women just because he can’t control is bruital. I really cant term them as patient or sickness. I can just term it as easy grab method. And if you look at the ratio many rape cases take place once the guy gets a chance, it is not about the illness it is about the chance. So i think guys if you really feel that urge get someone who can do the work for you, get married or get someone who can sleep for some money or just do it by urself….but plzzzzzzz…ERADICATE RAPE…..It is more dreadfull than any virus….

I think more than fighting rape what we have to fight is the was society perceives rape. Rape like any other crime will and can never will be eradicated. The more strict the laws we make more innocents would get trapped but rape would never die.
Rape is just a distortion present in human genes of both men and women. In fact there are quite a few stories on internet where many genuine women on their blogs have expressed desire or fantasised to be raped by strangers, even though understandably everybody(man or woman) will surely dislike the physical pain e.t.c assocated with act of rape.
The problem as I see is more in the soceity we live. The most and in fact more than 80% of pain caused to rape victim is done by society and not by rapist. If society started treating rape victims as any other normal victim and start treating them with equality and compassion(but and not any undue sympathy) rape would have lesser and lesser impact on our society. Sex as a tabbu which is present in our sexually repressive culture has to be eradicated and Rape should start getting treated as any other crime of physical violation.

I wud disagree to the notion that mr hari chanden tried to make. I am a PHD and have done my masters in moleclar bio and genetics and currently pursuing my phd in role of MTHFR gene in Leukemia.
Human behaviour is a combination of genes as well as envirnomental stimulas.Envirnoment stimulate genes. It is true that some rapists have high testrostone levels but that should not be reason enough to amount to rape.Mother nature is not that unthoughful to women.
Testostrone is a hormone available in both males and females and in predominantly high amounts in males.Its functiion is to make the males better providers for their family. Testostrone makes the male an aggressive fighter and more muscular & stronger the than female as his primary function is to fend for his family agsaint danger and competitors, which in all can be summed up as females giving life and males protecting it. When this testostrone pumped male lives in a society that teaches him that he is more superior than females that he can dominate them and do whatever he may please to them as \” he is a man\” it goes against what it was intended for. So instead of protecting women he ends up raping and dominating them. yes, let’s pity men (and 99% of the time it is a male perpetrator) who steal all the dignity and self-worth a person has and give them a slap on the wrist. raping a person is a choice. there may be biological factors that come into play like testosterone but most men never rape. psychoanalyzing rapists and giving them meds isn’t going to do much to deter people from choosing to rape in the future.

Men rape because they are built that way. Instead of debating the issue more emphasis should be put on subduing this disease. Perhaps worldwide female empowerment, family planning so that there are fewer orphans, education for both sexes around this male disease. There is a lot of ignorance in the article and these comments. Women in Egypt totally covered up are being molested and harassed by men, so it is not the clothing issue. Nuns and chaste women, and little girls and babies get raped. To say there is no physical damage is silly. Rape lacerates tissues, rapists often bite and mutilate the woman, and use objects that inflict torture as that part of a woman’s body is extremely sensitive. The rapist often uses the woman’s blood as lubricant. Please research what is happening in Congo, and Darfur. The woman is also often severely beaten and choked. Men can masturbte, so why terrorize a woman to get relief? There is more to it, need for brutal domination, fear and hatred of women, and being sexually aroused by fear in the woman.
Women take it seriously because of course men and family will reject them. Society does not give them the skills or right to look after temselves economically They are also psychologically damaged by being hurt. Many will be afraid of any male, and feel worthless and helpless and damaged. This can affect the kind of affection and care they can give to family and everybody thus suffers. Just think that she is hurt and damaged in the body part from which she is supposed to joyfully bring forth new life – her true womanhood. Men care much if their manhood is damaged or destroyed. Why shouldn’t women> If thousands of men were being castrated in the Congo the whole world would act, but not for those women. And Darfur, raping girls and then breaking their legs and leaving them in the desert to die? Thank you for the caring men who have written in here – they are the pillars of their communities and their families. In some societies the girl is killed for being raped and the man is not censured. It takes other men to put this straight and support and protect the females

My opinion is that men will rape for two reasons:
#1. For sexual desire, or to get off
#2. Because they can, they can dominate and control someone weaker than them. Usually losers guys w/o status or nothing to offer females will be more prone to do the behaviour for reason #1. I think rape is one notch below murder that’s how horrific i think it is and if u ever been raped u will agree.

Rape has to do with control issues and not sexual pleasure.Small babies and very elderly women get raped and America has one of the highest rape rates in the world. Why? I understand what you’re saying about women needing to cover up, it makes sense & that would probably be a good preventative measure. But I dont want to cover up completely for someone else. Say for example you love designer labels, but can only afford one outfit, if I walk past you in the street wearing a chanel shirt & true religion jeans do you have the right to take them from me because I have tempted you? Or if you have a high cholesterol, but love fast food – if I eat maccas near you am I wrong because I am tempting you to eat it? I think people have to take responsibility for themselves & their own actions. I agree that if you wear an abaya & a hijab it is less likely you will be raped, but I dont think its fair to say its a females fault they get raped based on their clothes. I choose my clothes based on whatever is comfortable & catches my eye, I love colour & weird things (like beads, or strange shapes/prints etc.)
I was raped by a 21 year old when i was 14, I was wearing loose jeans, boots without a heal & a 3 quarter sleeve, high cut black shirt, no make up, hair tied back – not exactly seductive – though im naturally blonde perhaps that is considered seductive?
Dan – I think you have a point about being sexually aroused by the fear in women. Its strange & freaky, but in my experience that is what appears to happen. Its like the man can get excited by the fact that he is completely in control of the situation (having twice the size, strength & willingness to hurt). And you’re right women can get the blame, people are hesitant to believe women, it seems to be easier for people to deal with if they believe the man. The man that raped me told our mutual friends that I willingly had sex with him & then black mailed him & I threatened to go to the police & say he raped me if he didnt give me money. I had no intention of going to the police, I have not spoken to him since it happened anyway. I dont believe that going to jail would have helped though anyway & I know that going to jail would hurt him & I dont want to have been responsible for hurting him. And rapists, especially child rapists, often get raped in jail. I would hate for me to have put someone in the position where they could get raped. Plus raping someone who rapes someone else to show that raping is wrong?
Dan, also I used to work for medicine sans frontier (doctors without borders) a charity that deals a lot in Darfur – i could not believe the way people, especially women, were treated there. The women are sent out to get food/water because they will normally be beaten & raped where as the men will be killed. I think what MSF do is very significant – if you are not already a supporter check them out
Jodee – I agree rape ruins your life. Its so strange that for a man it is one come, just a come, like nothing. A man will probably come more than 10,000 times in their life (not sure how accurate my estimation is but I guess every day give or take between ages 15-50), so one come is really not very significant. But for a women getting raped will (in my experience) affect you in mainly negative ways for many years – 7 for me so far Im 21.
Brenda – I think thats true – turn on MTV & the video clips would probably have been considered porn 50 years ago (like Rhianna – uhmbuhrella) or think of the lyrics in 50 cent for example songs. I guess as a society we are contributing to these things happening.
