Death and Bereavement are very difficult subjects for the human to cope with. The death of an infant or family member leaves a loss in many people s lives every year. No professional or lay person can explain these feelings of guilt and fear related to this subject. Although feelings that life is impossible to cope without this person are felt, they can be overcome in time and with self healing techniques. One of the main techniques which can be used to overcome the sense of guilt is the notebook technique.

This technique involves carrying a notebook at all times and recording your everyday thoughts about the person who has died. Directing these thoughts as if you were talking to the bereaved can help to convey things that you wish you had said to the bereaved before they passed away. This technique should in time help to banish thoughts of guilt. Talking to close relatives, friends and outsiders can also help as it helps you to come to terms with the loss. This technique has also been found to help with the loss of pets.

All in all people should realize that they are not alone in these feelings and how they come to terms and how quick they come to terms are not uniformed. The one sure thing in any ones life is at some time they will have to come into contact with death and bereavement and although there are no surefire ways of dealing with them there are different methods of coming through this part of your life.
