Eight of the Worst Ways to be Executed
If you are a fan of the death penalty, you won’t be after reading this.
However, if the criminal was pulled too slowly the victim might sink and miss the barnacles, but also might drown. If the rope broke halfway through, the captain could order another keelhauling, the first not being completed.
4. Ling Chi
Ling Chi was performed in China. It was the practice of execution by slow cutting. First cut would be the arms, then legs, and finally chest. The victim would usually still be alive, and the executioner would reputedly stab the criminal in the heart or chest until dead.
5. Breaking Wheel

For this clever way of execution, also known as the Catherine Wheel, a victim would be stretched out along a large wheel, arms and legs along the spokes. The wheel would slowly spin, as an executioner would bludgeon areas of the body between the spokes, breaking bones. If merciful, the executioner would deliver fatal blows after a few hits. If not, th
e person would be taken from the wheel and placed on a pole, sometimes still living, and left for the birds.
6. Boiling

Pretty much self-explanatory, the victim would be stripped and thrown into a giant vat or cauldron. The liquid inside, usually water, but sometimes molten lead, oil, or acid, would be boiled.
Another way would be to tie the victim to a chain and dip h
im into the boiling liquid until dead.
7. Flaying

You are lying on a cold table, sweating profusely, waiting for the executioner to arrive. A crowd has already gathered by the time he joins you. Laying a large box down, he opens it up and selects a sharp knife, glinting in the dim light. Your mind flits back to the apostle Bartholomew, who was also flayed. You can remember his screams, echoing in your mind. The executioner walks over to you and begins, sliding the knife under the skin of your legs. The pain is so sharp, so burning, that you let out a piteous scream. An hour later, you lie on the table in complete indifference, moments from death. With one last breath you look down at your body; blood is gushing everywhere, your muscles show, bones gleam, arteries and veins let out spurts of blood. You look over and see your skin hanging on a rack, all in one piece. You breath your last and die.
8. Necklacing
Necklacing is a type of execution in which a rubber tyre is filled with gasoline, forced over the arms and chest of the victim, and set alight. It was a common practice in South Africa during the 1980s and 1990s anti-apartheid struggle.
Necklacing sentences were sometimes handed down against alleged criminals by “people’s courts” established in black townships as a means of circumventing the apartheid judicial system.
Necklacing was also used to punish members of the black community who were perceived as collaborators with the apartheid regime. These included black policemen, town councilors and others, as well as their relatives and associates. The practice was frequently carried out in the name of the African National Congress (ANC), and was even endorsed by Winnie Mandela, then-wife of the imprisoned Nelson Mandela and a senior member of the ANC, although the ANC officially condemned the practice.
So, after reading all of these horrible execution ways, are you still a fan of the death penalty?

None of these relate to modern day practices of execution so I don’t understand why you would ask if people are still a fan of the death penalty. It was all very interesting but has nothing to do with the death penalty.

The falaying should be reserved for pedophiles. I think if this was the punishment there would be no pedophiles. Although the latent effect would be that the punishment is so severe those victimized by a loved one would be less likely to come forward. ahhhhhh well!

I live in India. I believe Death sentence should always be made in Public to put fear in future criminals.
Eight different sentences should be for eight catagories.
Lingchi for terrorists.
Flaying for Pedophiles.
The Brazon bull for spy/trailors from within.
Breaking wheel for Murderers who kill for money/property.
Death sentence is very healthy for building a peace society if you see its bigger picture, it should be made in public and after extensive evidence and proof.

The death penalty is barbaric and should have no place in civilized society! On the other hand, if it’s going to happen anyway it may as well make a bit of money; This could be prime time T.V. don’t forget. And those who watch it live can collect souvenir mugs ect.
The convicts should take part in a quiz or gameshow to establish what death they get. That’d add to the drama.

Or, you can keep your people uneducated and credulous, and tell them it’s a “family value” and “patriotic” to work at dead-end jobs for piss or to join the armed forces to keep the defense industry solvent. at least flaying only takes a couple of hours. nothing like 40 years of unending torture.

The practices are not just in history books, these things still happen and just as gruesome. Switch off that American Idol, pick up a newspaper, and pay attention to whats going on around the world.

Yes! Don’t you guys see? THIS is the only way of restraining order! I mean, when a mexican dude stabs his wife in the chest 2 times, leaving her to bleed to death then why should he be killed instantly and painlessly? They do it the right way in the Mid-East, cut one arm off for one theft, the other for a second theft, you don’t see much stealing around there! I say we bring up the old customs
believe me, if the punishment was to be torn apart on a wheel, no gangbanger would even go NEAR the gun store

im totally with you man! if we let troublemakers and the like run around after serving their twenty years or so for an “accidental” murder or something why wouldn’t they do it again? sexual crimes should be especially punished with like their parts being cut off

This is hilarious. You can actually find pictures of the necklacing one if you look for it. This would be excellent entertainment if people weren’t so damn queasy.
I think that if someone’s going to be executed, it should be televised for our own amusement- it’s one way of giving back to the public.

amusement? there is nothing amusing about taking someones life, even if it is justified.

I agree with everyone who appreciates how great the death penalty is. They show a great devotion to American ideals, including making unresearched claims and standing by them in the fact of overwhelming contradictory evidence.
Like this: http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/deterrence-states-without-death-penalty-have-had-consistently-lower-murder-rates

To hell with facts and the mentally ill! Let the suckers BURN!

In Belgium, a mentaly ill, 20 year old man walked into a kindergarden and stabbed 2 babies to death and wounded 20 other children.
Most of them were not older then 4.
he also wounded and killed a few nannies, all without reason.
I really really want this man to have one of the penalties above…

Death penalty seems exciting and hilarious when none of your family members are victims. Only when they are will you realise how horrible it really is. Everyone deserves a second chance in life, and what good will killing people because of a mistake they can fix, do? People can change a deserve a chance to proove themselves
