Immortality: What is So Good About It?

If you were given the chance of living forever, will you take it?

If you were given the chance of living forever, will you take it?

If this question were asked when I was younger, I could have unhesitantly answered “yes.” Why? The reasons are innumerable. With immortality, I will have more time to learn about this massive world and the universe. I’ll be there to discover everything that will happen, including the end of the world if it really is coming. To make it short, I’ll have unparalleled knowledge.

But as time went, my views gradually changed. If I will have eternal life, I’ll see my family and friends die. I’ll lose them without having the chance of meeting them on the “other side.” Ang material things are limited. What will happen when I discover all to be discovered? There will be nothing left to do. And my memory is not good enough anyway to accomodate unparalleled knowledge. I will forget most of it.

Life, as I (and everyone living will) discovered, is a journey indeed. And like every successful journey, it should arrive at a certain end.
