Mercy killing is called euthanasia. It has evolved over time.

Eu means happy. Thanasia means death. Down through history it has evolved to mean differing things to people. Originally it meant dying without pain or suffering. It also involves animals, but not in this article. Leaders in the past have influenced people to carry out evil wishes. They can not act alone, and must have the doctors, scientists, lawyers and other so called responsible people. In history there was The Black Stork which is a true story where persons with defective genes were to be sterilized. It was a movement where babies with birth defects and others considered to be burdens on society were to be murdered. This was at the beginning of preventative medicine. Why not let defective newborns die? In reality, this is a decision to be made by the mother and father today because of the changed laws. I realize the term euthanasia causes suspicion, fear and anger in those and family members, who have been treated cruelly by some government systems.

For any race to believe they can be or are superior to another is not wise thinking. Seven out of ten persons thought it was a good thing to have assisted suicide in the case of a person suffering from terrible pain with a terminal disease. When a person is ill, they are not themselves, so how can another person decide for them when they cannot even decide for themselves? Doctors are humans with much responsibility. Life and death belong to one greater above all . Yes a person may take their own life. If they are mostly evil, people will not miss that person. Who thinks this way in their right mind? No one I know.

There is active euthanasia which are actions intended to end the life of a person that is suffering greatly with no chance for recovery. There is passive euthansia which is withholding treatment from one where it can prolong life. Doctors take an oath to do no harm and to save and improve quality of life. If we give doctors the power to murder, what have they become? It happens all the time.
