Would Burying a Loved One with a Cell Phone Comfort You?
I think it’s ridiculous. Sue me.
This is exactly when you know how much worldly things mean to us. People today have lost all faith in religion and values and are all about things which won’t ever last. People before preferred to be buried with their holy books or religious items because they felt secure and protected in one way or the other. They wanted to face the judgement day with something that would help God forgive them. But today, I was shocked to read this.
I understand how some people have their own personal items that they value way too much and since they are so emotionally attached to them, they would want to take them to their grave. But have we lost all sense of understanding the difference between what will last and what has to end? Is their a even a slight difference between the spiritual and the worldly things?
Are these battery operated devices, which work on networks and depend on our fingers to press the buttons to dial a number, really that important part of our lives now, more like, really that important part of us after our death?
Look, I love my phone. I am one of those tech geeks who wants the coolest phone and then best phone plans ever. I am defintely a person who uses phone not just for calling but also because I like gadgets and I like to have the best gadgets. Yes, I am one of those crazy tech nerds sometimes, BUT I think I know better than taking my phone in the grave with me.
Isn’t the life after death supposed to be more peaceful? More convenient? More amazing? Then why are you taking your phone with you?
Also, think of it more logically. Of course, not that your battery is gonna last for eternity. And the fact that your relative agree to bury your phone with you is maybe because they want to put something that was close to your heart and precious to you and hence they do it. But phones and ipods…I mean…after like a few hours, what is left of that device? The phone’s battery is dead and so is your ipod’s.
I know I know, some of you might want to disagree with me and you are most welcome to, but I still feel an eternal life is not about worldly possessions. We should not be so dependant on these materialistic things that we don’t see the difference between value and junk.
