Disability: Yes or No?

So how is it that someone has worked from day one out of school, constant, and yet, cant get disability when your knees wont work properly, or you are told you cannot lift your child anymore like you use to, and will require yet another surgery.  And figuring how to pay for that surgery is a whole new story.

The economy is at one of it’s worst times right now, and with all the unemployment right now, things are so boggled up everywhere.  My friend told me that she even had to go yell at doctors off as it had been a whole month almost since last part disability check, and the doctor only writes her out two week periods at a time for Depression.  But it takes the doctors business office, about a week and half to get the note sent out to the disability office, then they have to process, oh my gosh, a month without money, she has hardly ate, gave her some food, but would not take much, she has borrowed to pay utilities and part rent, those want their money back, so what is she suppose to do.  They deal with more delays, more heartache, more depression.

I guess maybe I am just venting here today, as it was a bit depressing for me today when she came to use computer and told me all of this,  we spent over an hour trying to look up information on-line and trying to sort through all the mumbo jumbo and understand what all the formal codes meant, and who actually qualified and who does not.

I believe that if a (shrink) is working with depression, and has had this patient for over 6 months, at least they should somehow write them out for a longer period of time.  As you have to notify disability when you return to work, and are able to do so before your note expires if your up to it, but this headache the system is causing right now for the ones who really need it.  Why does the disability call you and ask questions and due to the health issue, will say that they will set you up an auto check every two weeks, but that never happens, then when it’s been so long since a check, you wait forever on phone to find that, No, that was a mistake, you need to send in new doctor note again.  Well, gee whiz, you would of done that if the guy had not told you would send it automatically and they  had also sent a form for you to fill out and mail to them if you do return to work, and when you returned. So why do they put you through this twice, have you running around in circles, especially if suffering from depression as any little thing can seem like a big major thing to you, so imagine how this all makes you feel.

I just wish there was an easier way for the ones who really need it, to get their checks on time, and the ones who have symptoms that seem fair enough, or told never can pick up their child or grandchild on regular basis anymore, that they should also be able to get permanent disability, and it not make them have to retire early and lose money for doing so, just seems a bit unfair to me…

These are my own opinions, my own thoughts, do not wish to force any on anyone, as we each have our own thoughts and opinions, but just wanted to share my thoughts today.
