Some rules should really be reviewed. I also know some people like that, just taking other people’s taxes to support their lives even if they can still work while those who deserved to be helped do not get any.

You have hit a sore spot here, and that is why our country is going down, we have allowed people to make excuses no to work.

Right with you there,CD. Why is it some people can collect unemployment while attending school and others cannot?
I’m too young for some services,and too old for others. Paying taxes doesn’t get you as far as it once did.
It doesn’t matter. “The Man” is beginning to work with me though, and I take it one day at time, hoping for the best.

My mother could not get disability till she was dying; yet, my ex-husband was able to get it as a fairly young man because of having a perforated colon. Sometimes I think it has to do with how sincerely you wish not to work. Mother was a workaholic. Not working was really hard on her when she truly had to stop. A lot depends on where you are, how good your social worker is, how willing your doctor is to work with you, and the social climate at the time of your application. I’m not sure there are any really good answers. Being disabled could happen to any of us for any number of reasons, so this is a good question–but I’m not sure it has a good answer.

Others benefit that do not deserve it while those that really need the help must go without. I myself suffer from Fibromyalgia (for ten years) and am unable to go out to work. I am at home without a paying job and my husband is forced to support the six of us on his own. That is not fair, but others who have excellent health are getting benefits that people like myself should be receiving. Thanks for the article.
