America Mart

On politics and the economy.

The People of America understand and react to problems with the economy. They comprehend that republicans have one way of helping the economy and Democrats have another. They also know that when one stays in office for too long the balance times get a little extreme and let the other one take over. When inflation gets high, republicans take office, and when unemployment gets high, a democrat boots him out. As long as the balance is in place America is doing well and prospering.

Government plays an active role in meddling in the economy. They know when to put money in and when to take it out. They also help in giving their constituents the right Yellow Brick Road to the Wizard of Oz. Both parties have one major difference in how they help the economy, though both work, here’s how they’re different. Democrats see the main problem is unemployment. They think if people have jobs then they can afford what they need and contribute to taxes. Republicans see inflation as the bigger problem. They think if everything costs less, then they can find a job, pay for what they need and contribute to society. The only problem is that neither party focuses on both. When one party stays in office for too long, the problem they’re not focusing on tends to skyrocket. Like when Carter was president, inflation was higher than it was in the past 45 years, so America elected Ronald Reagan and it nearly shot straight down during his first term. From 14% to 2% America logically chose their president back in 1980. This proves voters understand which party will help them during time of need.

Limitations are placed on the government and how they meddle in the public sector because America was founded on the ideal of Capitalism. This lasseiz-faire philosophy states that government should not intervene. History has shown that this idea doesn’t work, so we have become a mixed economy. This means some intervention, but as little as possible. We don’t want much intervention because that would mean that we are communists. We want to give the government as little power as possible because power corrupts. The government should only step in to keep the best interest of the public in mind. Like protecting the environment, unions, and our health.
