Bit About Rational Economics and Gift Economy

A few thoughts on Rational Economics, and Gift Economy.

Rational economics were recently explained to me as the theory that everyone at all time will count there value and the cost of there time. When this was explained to me I scawfed and couldn’t believe that everyone is counting value all the time. It made me sad to think of it but upon reflection I can see how I do it too to get threw a tough work day. Counting the how much my employer is paying me as I count down to the end of my shift. In the states we are told we are one of richest countries however it does not feel like we are so rich because we have such a huge income inequality. The states became extremely driven by individual responsibility since the industrial revolution.  My second thought on the subject of Rational economics was that it couldn’t be because if everyone always counted there value then no one would ever give to charity or any kind of alterisam. If Rational economics made since than no one would go into deit, or even take care of there children.  The third largest city in Nevada I can only refure to as Black Rock because it’s name is closely protected.  The city is run on a gift economy, it’s an experimant in radical self relience no one is alowed into the city without everying they would need to suport themselves. This Gift economy works only when everyone has access to everything they need.  The Rational economics may work for most of the states but it requires poverty and this combined with the enfasiss on individual responsibility leaves the haves and the have nots with no one  but them selves to credit with there social position.  Rich people think they deserve to be rich and poor poeple think it’s there falt for being poor.   One thing that can be done to move twards a Gift economy is to help more people gain access to the means of production before Rational economics and Gift economies can develop.
