Blessings of the Current Recession

The current recession the world over has upset everyone’s life in some way or another. But, is everything to our disadvantage only? There are some blessings of any recession as well. What are they?

Open any newspaper anywhere in the world, you would find on the very first page tears about Recession and Melt down. I think all of us may put our hands together and lift up the economy of United States of America. According to my understanding if the dollar value falls down, every country seems to suffer without exception. So, we should work for the flourishing of the US dollar. May it flourish and flourish, so that there is peace in the commercial world the world over. I am no economist, but that’s what I feel.

According to a verse in The Holy Bible, “all things work for good …” Also, there is a saying that “some good would come out of anything bad”.

The depressing economy may have put brakes on the lavish way of life of the Rich and Famous but see the fall out. Their family ties are getting renovated in a large measure. They have plenty of time now to spend with each other and some of them have even discovered the existence of some slender qualities in their spouse. Do the children find their parents more affectionate now than before? Indeed “yes”. The little ones are thrilled that their Pappa comes home on time and has time to play with them and Pappa’s moustaches are nice to touch and twist.

So, recession is an interlude to introspect on the personal bonds of business tycoons.. The descending graph lines are certainly giving many families a time to sit back and delve deeper into the dynamics of personal relationship and take a closer look into their day to day personal life style.

But, if a job hunter, fresh out of college with a degree in his hand, says the same thing we will know that he is a liar of sorts. One engineering graduate says, “The employers may have shut their doors on me. So what ? Haven’t I now more time on hand to spend with my brother, sister, parents and friends?” “ Great words, dear fellow. You are well aware that the current recession has reduced your chances of getting a job and you are going to spend sleepless nights, all by yourself and not with your friends, brother and sister.”.

The retailers are giving special discounts. Never heard of it before in my city? They don’t give any kind of concession even during the annual “clearance sale”. Oh, how inviting their appeals are ! Poor chaps. They are putting on a brave face because they have no space to stock all the incoming stocks. The other day, on a busy commercial street, I saw some young college boys accosting all and sundry to just step into the shop. Just step in, that’s all. An uninformed youngster had cheekily added his own words to the slogan – just step in, you don’t have to buy anything. Hearing this addenda to his official line, the Manager settled his account then and there and sent him home.

The car prices have come down by anything up to 20%. Even then, people are not buying the stuff. Ungrateful customers! That includes me, I’m afraid.

This morning I saw in my post box a bundle of hand bills offering reduction in the fees of various types of computer courses. One announced, “You don’t have to pay the full fees in one go; take it easy and pay it installment at your convenience.” The same chap didn’t budge even by ½ % a month back.

A well wisher of mine, tapped my shoulder and said, “Share prices are diving at great speed, friend. Why not buy a few thousands immediately? They will get back to their normal high flying value some months from now?” “Is it? What is Share, brother?” I asked tightening my face. He waved me off like I was a good for nothing fellow who doesn’t understand a word about the share market and stocks and shares syndrome.

So, if you have the money, take advantage of all these generous offers. The situation may not arise again for long. The last one occurred around 1930, I think. That is, some 80 years back. Are you going to wait another 80 years or what? So, hurry to the nearest shop and save that fellow; he is drowning, you know?
