Budget Cuts in America

Budget Cuts.

It’s crazy to think about all the programs being cut from our high-schools and middle schools, and the coaches and teachers leaving with those positions. And it just so happens to be that the classes we all love the most, as students, are the ones being cut. With that being said, the only question I have is the fact of how schools propose to keep students interested. With sports being cut, electives, and after school activities, we are riding of all pleasure students get from school; we are merely killing all motivation. Students do NOT care about school as they used to, and the amounts of behavior problems are absurd. Because our classrooms are so overly-full, class time is now being spent on behavior issues rather than education. Being this way, the career of teaching is no longer full of life and passion, but an inconvenience and burden. As students, most all of us enjoy our music classes such as Orchestra, Band, and Choir, but did you know that CCSD is proposing to possibly cut those classes too? And how about our art classes such as woodshop, ceramics, painting, and drawing. These are the classes that keep us students motivated and ready for school. Not only does is make us excited to go to school, but is an outlet. It’s a way of expressing who we are, and keeps us encouraged to set the bar and make better grades.

While education funds get cuts, ignorance further develops. The correlation between ignorance and violence is relatively high, well at least how I see it. Perhaps the building of a larger prison will need even more funding, especially if crime rates will develop as a result from growing ignorance.
