Death Rattle

     Another reason is that the cars just arent keeping up with the advances and looks of the foriegn cars.  Lets face it Chrysler has the same old tired looking cars for so many years that people just tire of them while the foriegn car companies are continuely making advances and making their automobiles look nicer and more sleek.  Saturn car company when first introduced were exciting new looks and the American public answered in buying millions of them and making Saturn appear to be an up and coming part of the General Motors family.  But, as with anything General Motors does they continued with the designs until they grew old and tired.  Now they just introduced some exciting looking new cars but, it is too little too late.  Production has stopped in the plant in Tennessee.  Unfortunaltely the buy out by Penske went south.  General Motors and Chrysler have done the same thing for years they have had the same cars under too many brands.  Now they realized that this is a bad idea.  It certainly took them long enough.  I thought possibly GM was on the right track when they stopped production of Oldsmobile.  but, no now they are shedding Saturn, Pontiac and have already sold off Hummer to the Chinese.  I think the last was a mistake because they lost huge government contracts with that sale that now goes to Chinese companies.  Again mismanagement. 

     Alot of people are saying that the main reason is that the retired employees benifits are breaking the companies.  i ask you though if this is the case why is Ford not having such a difficulty of dealing with it.  One they prepared better for it knowing this massive expense was coming.  It seems as though Chrsler and Genereal Motors have no forsight of the future and this will of course be their downfall and I believe I will see the day in the next twenty years when only one automobile company will call America home.  that would be ford motor company.  Because they learned their lesson from their founder Henry Ford when he refused to upgrade his model T and they lost the lead in sales to Chevrolet because at that time Chevrolet believed in change and knew the American people love it.  So I hope that they see the error of their ways and change and  we again become the world leader in automobile production.  many people dont believe this is important but, it provides and can provide Billions of dollars of much needed income in the United States for the quickly shrinking middle class.
