Economics, Prizes or Prices

I married a banker.

After only a few days of married life I found out how busy he was in service and how much free time I had.

I was now away from my own home.

What shall I do?

‘What do you do all day alone? why don’t you come over?my sister in law would sharply clip

 ’Ah yes I thought , and sit like a dumb fool, smiling at people coming in that house, waiting for the food to be served and try to answer silly questions   like ‘ how do you feel about life in this city’

‘OH I hate it like this sitting idle’ I felt like saying but then I was with my in laws- and anything said wrongly  would soon make ME an outlaw  This society of mine, Eastern they call it, one is sitting far away in the East while the new family seems to be far in the West. Sometime I feel like being poles apart.

‘Now the question is what shall I do all day’ well, first I would  help  the inlaws with the three year old kid.

Are kids like this, stubborn and so loud , screaming kicking and shouting , and at times the cries almost sounded like the braying of the donkey.OH Lord forgive me please. I am sorry, I said, it just sounded so similar.After all man is a social animal and according to darwin a descendant of the Chimapnzees, er… the leapers… swingers…er the snatchers… er… I mean the ones with the long tails’ OH come on whats the harm in saying…’the monkeys’

Well, I shall spend my time in writing’ Thats it. I will write letters to the editor of the local magazine, there are so many problems someone has to point them out.

Economics and Management

who will run the house was the key question? Of course the one who earns but in our Eastern society, the man earns the woman works at home dusting cleaning washing and cooking. In educated language we call it Home Economics or Home Management. I was the worker but without pay.

No Payment for the wife

now wives just work and obey they are not to be paid.So I did not get any pay.It was work in your own home, you just had to do it.

No Prize

No prizes are awarded for house work.

No Price

No price is settled for any home job.

Later I found that two of my children were interested in studying this very relevant and applicable subject.

‘Mom it’s the most interesting subject ‘

well I am not so sure I wish I had studied it too, but…

‘It pays Mom’ my son was so confident. It leads to accountancy finance and management’

‘Oh really? I looked at him with a smile.

In my heart I prayed.I hope son you achieve what you are learning in life and may you be rewarded for it.amen. He has completed his MBA in Financial Studies  and Masters in Economics yet he is struggling for achievement in the workfield.

My husband has retired as a banker. I with my Literature and Language degree am working and you can guess, can you?
