Inside Hedge Funds
Hedge Funds were nemesis during the economic boom cycle, so it’s not clear where they stand during the bust.
But this story, though built out of that collapse is to humanize what can almost be described in today’s populist angst as the inhumane. Today’s anger is based on ignorance, and therefore one route towards understanding is through the people; not the ones of the banners, or the ones who are being attacked in rage, but the forgotten ones who, like everyone else, work hard for a living. Through this perspective we seek to define the hedge fund industry and its place in the world – a valid one that should not be the enemy of governments nor the fuel for fire. It is certain that hedge funds were not responsible for the current crises; they are scapegoats and easy targets for collective government, financial and people failures. But let us also be clear this is not a story of defense either. This is not about ignoring the arrogance we work with on a daily basis because to be rational in a free world one must reject the man who pretends to walks taller than you and lords over you like a master to his slave. And whilst we release this into a wind of backlash and readership that may be only interested in another story of folly; what they’ll find here to their dislike is their own role in a crisis that has engulfed the western world and it’s models of living like no other in recent memory.
