It’s Time for The American People to Get Our Economy Growing Again!

After three years it’s obvious the Government is clueless over how to end this economic recession. Perhaps, it time that the citizens of this country started leading the way.

After three years of severe economic recession, millions of people out of work, and hundred of thousands of people having lost their homes it has become clear that our Government hasn’t got a clue as to how to get us headed in the right direction to climb out of this hole we are in.

So, it’s time the American people said enough is enough and started taking charge of our economy recovery one person, and one community at a time. It isn’t going to be easy but, then life these last few years have been difficult and it looks like things are going to get worse before they get better with talks of cuts in medicare, medicaid and food stamps. The way I see it we have nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking the responsibility to help our selves, our communities, and our country.

Here are some things we can do to help get this country headed in the right direction once more.

Support The Small American Business

With so many people laid off from work several enterprising families and individuals have started their own businesses. By supporting these people by purchasing their candles, their soaps, their planters, or what have you instead of buying from big stores that are run by foreign investors we are putting Americans back to work and ensuring that the money stays in this country.

There are also many small mom and pop stores scattered across the country that when the economy went bottom up managed to stay in business and often extend credit to their local customers to help them get through some pretty hard times. By supporting these stores instead of the corporate giants we are keeping the backbone of the American enterprise system alive.

There are also small farms, and other small businesses that need our support. These businesses are part of our communities and by giving them our support we helping to keep those dollars and nickles and dimes with in our own communities where they can do the most good. Remember to that while these stores do not hire hundreds of workers they do hire people from the community which creates more local jobs for more local people.

Buy American!

This slogan has been around for years but, people simply didn’t take heed. Instead we chose to purchase cheaper products from foreign countries which resulted in over 30 million American workers losing their jobs over the last few years. And what did we get in exchange. Products that broke down before they were even paid for and more and more foreign products and businesses pushing our own businesses to the side.

One of the things that made our country economically strong for many years was good old American ingenuity and independence. But over the last fifty years we have set by and allowed our Government to make poor choices that made us less independent, robbed Americans of jobs, and forced us to become a spending economy instead of a producing one.

It is time we took a step back, said no more, and made the decision to support only those businesses and people that will contribute to our economic recovery. If big businesses want to succeed then let them be run by Americans and hire American workers, let our small businesses Flourish, and let’s once again take pride in America.

You made good points martie. Small business and and indigenous products should be encouraged. But can they survive the competition with Cheap Chinese products, unless Government gives some special concessions to these businesses.

Very nice. I agree. It’s never been solely the governments responsibility to get us back on track. People getting out themselves out of debt and staying out of debt would also help.

Buy American and shop at locally owned stores, NOT chain stores. Many chain stores have head offices that are not in your local area, some have overseas investors.

Even if the chain store is 100% American the profits leave your immediate area. One of the best places to shop are farmers markets and garage sales.

If you cannot buy American.. at least support my country and buy Canadian!

Martie, you made good points but many of us don’t have money to buy expensive products over those that cost less. We have to stretch our pennies. I’m all for buying locally and I do when possible.

Excellent post Martie. I agree that we need to support our local businesses and bring back our economy one community at a time. If people keep there Money local we will see things start to turn around faster then a lot would think.

You sound like a politician! If you are the next presidential candidate of either side, then you shall have my vote.
