Occuppy Wall Street

It lacked a unified list of demands.

Occupy Wall Street Movement has really developed from a small protest to arise into many other demonstrations. Many people have gathered in several cities across America to protest against the one percent of the rich people as well as their authority over the government. Each and every person has the power to apply the right to free speech. In this regard, the demonstrations have grown from one city to over seventy cities across America. In addition, this has spread to other countries as well such as England, Australia, and Canada. This can be compared to the Arab uprising that was experienced in early 2011 which led among many others the Egyptian revolution. However, the platform in which the protestors present their grievances does not make sense at all.

It is a fact that there is uneven distribution of riches in America as well as corruption in Wall Street. One thing, the protestors must be commended for, is bringing the attention by showing people that it is a fact there is a problem in the United States. Nevertheless, it’s not clear their real intention bearing that the protest have spread to other cities. Their main agenda was to bring to attention the economic disparities in the United States. The one percent of rich Americans keeps on getting richer whereas the poor continue becoming poorer while the middle class is really pressed. This is because the forty percent accounting for 120 million Americans only posses 0.3 % of total wealth whereas the wealthy 1% holds 42% of all financial wealth.

However, the protestors can be termed as unfocused because there is an ambiguity to the demands they are presenting. This is because every protestor has a different list of demands. Therefore, one will be justified to conclude that the movement agenda is very trivial since it lacks a final goal. When you visit their page on OccupyWallSt.com, you will realize that the list of demands keeps on changing every time because people can add their own submissions. In this case, there is no existence of a list that has been certified by the general public. In addition, some of the proposals by the protestors are very strange if they are implemented in America. This is because of the policies being proposed by the protestors will actually hurt the same people that there are required to assist. Some of their demands are genuine but it will be hard for the movement to be seen as serious.
