Proposal to Solve a Problem: Our Financial Oppression
A paper that I wrote to outline an idea that I truley beilieve that one day will be implemented in some way, shape or form.
A man gets up and gets ready for work; he puts his forty plus hours in for the week. After he gets home something happens that will change his life forever. The man in question is a janitor for a small company, he works hard and gets paid very little for his work, and nice things seem like a far away dream, and by nice things I mean, a car that isn’t a certifiable death trap, a tv that hasn’t seen two world wars, movies and little things for entertainment that people who can afford it are blessed with to help them to be released from the daily burden of a stressful life. When this man comes home after a long day he falls and hurts himself; it’s everything he has worked hard for that is now on the line besides his own health and general physical well-being. Though he had a life-long commitment to working hard, he was paid so little that the fall that he experienced was enough to completely ruin him financially.
He goes to the hospital and receives care that is but just enough; the funding for the research required to achieve today’s current procedures for what was necessary was scrapped and redirected somewhere else that was deemed more necessary, after all, funding is limited. Some countries have it far worse however. Somewhere in Cambodia there are many families living in ramshackle houses who are selling their daughters, some only as old as eight, for sex so that they can afford the luxury of simply living. Living conditions all over the world that would be considered hardly fit for animals here in our own civilization, are being lived out. The reality of sweatshops and modern day slavery is appalling considering the resources that are available. The government that tells us what money is and how much it is worth also tells us about the shortages of it, it’s the constant struggle of a nation coupled with the struggles of individuals who work hard to achieve some measure of comfort, only to find when they need to take a step back that they are precariously close to the edge of an oblivion that can only be described as a man made structure of oppression. It is a very sad fact that no matter how hard you work at something, no matter how diligent you are in your duties to provide for yourself, and or a family, you can never underestimate life’s ability to take everything that you worked hard for away from you. Of course to change the system as thoroughly as what is necessary is a scary prospect, the pain to stay the same must exceed the pain to change; a pain that is felt far worse in other parts of the world where the people are more oppressed and, in effect, have less power to anything about their current plights.
What I propose would be drastic, but I believe that it would solve a lot more than just a financial system that is failing yet again, and needs a drastic bailout after only how many years since the last time, this even in what are considered to be the most prosperous countries on the planet.
Imagine if you would, the implications of the world sharing one currency, with a world government in control; for some that causes blood pressure to rise at an alarming rate just thinking of the potential for misuse of the power allotted to such an organization, but I also implore people to see what could truly be possible under such a system. Imagine a world were money is no issue for the government, imagine how it would be if people, along with what they made at their respective jobs, also got paid by the government simply because they work full-time and are productive citizens, then imagine what that could mean to everyone all over the world; no more would a person work full-time and not even be able to afford many necessities of a healthy life. No longer would a family have to drive in a blatantly unsafe vehicle just because it is all they can do to simply live with what they make, even though they work many hours and are productive citizens.
I’m not proposing making everyone rich, but anyone who knows what it is like supporting yourself at any job paying less than ten dollars an hour can tell you, it’s not a realistic wage to live off of by itself, one can hardly afford the essentials of life even though they work instead of run drugs or other more profitable means of making a living, and require a measure of governmental assistance already in place just so they can afford cheap and often unhealthy food choices. Imagine a world where certain jobs are paid exclusively by the government, jobs such as being a doctor.
