Pub Lunches
Over the last 10 years or so, pub lunches have grown to become a symbol of British society.
At the start of the decade, hungry pub-goers would be lucky if they had a menu which consisted of anything more than peanuts, crisps and pork rinds. However, it is no exaggeration to state that cooked meals are now a major revenue provider for the majority of British pubs.
Atmosphere
Ever since the rise in popularity of pub lunches, landlords have been striving to create a more family-friendly atmosphere where people of all ages can sit and enjoy their meal in relative peace.
In most pubs, customers order can their meals at the bar and wait for their meals to be delivered to them whilst they are sat at bistro tables. Pub staff don’t expect any gratuity fees to be added to the price of the meal, although some cheeky staff members might dicker with customers about this fact.
Menu
Most traditional British meals can often be found on a pub menu. Customers can expect to pay between £5 and £10 for most fish, chicken, salad, steak or pasta dishes. Some pubs even offer all-day breakfast options and a range of reasonably priced desserts.
Special Offers
Local residents can now expect a range of high-quality meals at a price far cheaper than any local restaurants. However, many pubs offer a bargain menu where punters can order two meals and expect change from a £10 note. Others offer money off certain meals on name a promotion after this discount e.g. ’Curry Mondays’ or ‘Steak Thursdays.’
Back in the 80’s and 90’s where pubs were traditionally seen only as places for adults to drink, smoke and let off some steam, it may have been as an absurd place to eat a family meal.
This is no longer the case and many families are taking advantage of the quality food selections at their local pub.
