Saving Money: Is Canada or The USA Ready for It?
Time to Tighten Our Belts.

by RickyFingerz
Everybody wants to know how to save money but can’t face the reality of the changes in attitude that must be implemented. For too many years we have fattened ourselves to obesity; blatantly wasted resources, living without regard for the future of ourselves and generations that follow; this has gone on for far too long. Now we all pay; especially the USA.
These are silly ideas to some but to laugh, belittle or ignore is to further our own demise. If you’re not a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem. Your waste is plentiful; your dumps too full.
Resource and food wastage in both USA and Canada is deplorable. We consume, deplete and waste at an astonishing rate, thinking abundance will be forever.
Food and produce stores disguard tons of perfectly good food every day. If the baked bread is slightly past golden brown, out it goes. When baked goods are packaged six to a bag, sometimes there are only five left; these will be trashed because they don’t make a full bag. Anything perishable that does not sell in one day is trashed. Some donate to charitable organizations but much gets thrown out.
We’re afraid of costs and changes in infrastructure to accommodate better energy usage and production. The economy has been structured on fossil fuels for too many years. Get it? “Fossil fuels”, likening to old fossil idealistic thinking. Ponder this…what good would all these oil reserves be if there were no longer a need? Catastrophic for many to say the least. Technologically speaking, we’re ready for change; corporations are sitting on “green” technology that would surely upset and depolarize the the current economical status. Empires have been built on old technology and now that they have control, they don’t want to give it up. Time for radical change.
Ouebec is the one and only dominant French speaking province in Canada. Why does every cereal box and every instruction booklet have a French version? The ink costs alone are staggering not to mention extra stock and shipping weight. Billions of dollars could be saved here.
Why is public and government information/brochure material printed on the most expensive, high gloss stock. Billions could be saved here too. It is sad that both governments make such poor business decisions.
What is the mind set that allows production of items that are disposable when they could be made to last almost forever. Products that are engineered to fail after a given length of time are numerous. Packaging is another area that needs to be addressed. Staggering, inappropriate excess packaging fill the dumps by the tonnage. This is a flagrant waste of resources and packaging restrictions should be implemented. Get with the program people, the dump sites are full and we are running out of room and what seeps into the water table is nothing but negligence. I’m sorry, but you corporate fat cats just don’t get it; neither do most people.Would more mandates be appropriate to control wasted resources?. If you were sitting in a jail cell you certainly wouldn’t be wasting toilet paper there.
There are a myriad of ways to save money but is anyone willing? Is anyone listening? Rise up, shout out and be heard. You are the only ones that can make change. You have to save a penny to ultimately save a dime; this is a theory proven, time after time.
